Tranny Service
Hey Guys...
Having some mods done to my truck which include "tranny service" along with the installation of a new pan. My truck has a 47RH.
The term "tranny service" seems a little vague to me so here's the question:
When I get the truck back, what kind of "service" (other than transfusion of the tranny fluid and installing the temp gauge) should I expect to have had done?
Thanks!
Bob

A good tranny tech will look for sludge and observe the color and smell of the fluid. Sludge is a buildup of particulates indicating your friction surfaces are wearing.

Some "stealers" try to sell a flush job, It's a rip off. They claim that they flush the system and super clean the tranny. If they drain it, and adjust the bands, install new filter and new ATF+4, then you will be better off than with the flush. A mag Hytec DDpan would be good to (6 more Qts of fluid) and finned alluminum to dissipate heat faster than the stamped steel one.
With your truck being a 95 then ATF+3 is the proper fluid.Good luck with it.
