Tranny Gauge Reading?

Tranny Gauge Reading?
I just had a new temp gauge installed in the cooler line and I took it out today and in traffic it didn't move off the 100 degree line. The temp was in the high 80's today. I do have a MagTec deep pan but shouldn't it be reading higher than this. I also noticed that they had overfilled the tranny some so I will be taking it back tomorrow. Any suggestions? I got the cooler line and gauge from DieselManor.

Bill,
Thanks for the reply. Yes the sender unit is installed in the line that takes the fluid to the cooler. The part from DieselManor is Part #: DM-CLG2 (http://www.dieselmanor.com/dm_products/DM-CLG2.asp) . I had my other gauge in the pan but it took a dump and was jumping all over the place so I thought I would move it to the line. The needle does jump a little when the ignition key is turned and it does light up but the needle hasn't moved at all.

Phox,
I took it up the pass and back on the highway, and drove it around town. I took it back to the shop today and apparently it didn't have a good ground at the sensor connection. Seemed to be working fine. I took it back up the pass and it read 160. Then I noticed after getting off the highway and waiting to get into traffic it went to 200. I went back to the house, put it in drive and set the brake like I was waiting at a long light and it went back up to about 210. I got a little scared so I pulled the dipstick and I could hold the stick and rub the fluid without burning my hand. When I got back in the truck the gauge was back down to 100 on the dial. I had a problem with the other gauge I had in the pan when it started jumping all over the place. It would go from 130 to 200 back down to 140 up to 250. I called dieselmanor and they said the amplifier box was bad so I ordered a new tranny gauge set up and the tranny line set up for the gauge. I just gave them another call about the new gauge and was told it was probably another bad amplifier box and Isspro would send me a new one in 3-5 days. I hope this is all it is because this is getting really annoying.

Once it starts getting a reading, the temp registers pretty quick, and goes up and down a lot.
160-180 highway driving, TC locked up, lots of airflow to keep it cool.
Stop and go city driving, no TC lockup, no airflow, it can get to 200-210 pretty quick.
Slow winding mtn road, uphill, no airflow, no lockup, 250 can happen quite often.
I actually had my trans temp warning light on the dash come on a couple weekends ago, I had my temp guage pegged for a good while up a steep winding hill.

Now I'm not getting any reading on the gauge at all. I'm on vacation now in Montana and I'm waiting on the new gauge and then I'm going to see if I can take it over to Missoula to a diesel shop and have the gauge changed. Went to a local shop here and the guy was nice but I always like taking it to a shop that works on diesels most of the time. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens. Makes a big difference in temperature readings when you move the sensor from the pan to the hot line. I never saw readings like that when it was in the deep pan.
