I snapped a picture using the part # above as soon as it is approved you will be able to see it in my Photo Gallery.
Here is another way. This was in "RATTLINRAMs" Photo gallery:

Hope this helps.

I have taken mine right off the Pan. Brass or weld a fitting on for sensor.

Dan, You don't need to know how hot the fluid in your pan is. You want the temp sensor as close to the converter as possible. Thus the front line coming out of the tranny will give you a closer to proper reading. The converter is what your trying to "protect". Hope this helps.

The return line from the tranny cooler empties into the pan. So a temp sensor in the pan would give you the cool fluid temperature. I would move the sensor.

Thats correct JRS, but I didn't see any one mention the return line (line to the rear of trans), only the output line (toward the front) which is where you will get a good reading.

You want the output line at the front left side of the trany. This line has the hottest fluid from the torque converter. The fluid is what you are trying to keep cool. The other places have cooled or mixed cool and hot fluids. They will not let you know when you have reached a critical temp for the fluid until it is too late. You can go to some of the trany sites and do a search on this. I know it has been discussed at DTT many times.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Just remembered an old post.
Here is why you want to know how hot your fluid is.

If it is cool out side and your trany cooler is doing a good job you might not know what the torque converter is doing until it is too late.

One of the major reasons for even having a tranny temp gauge is to avoid overheating the oil and shortening it's life expectancy. You'll never know how hot it really gets in the pan.
For every 20°F over 200° fluid life decreases by roughly 50%.

Here is the way Rattlinram did it. PM him and I'm sure he can fill you in on the parts needed. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...cat=500&page=2
Good luck

Just go to the local hydraulics shop and get some JIC fittings for 1/2" tubing. Then cut a section out of your existing line, and screw in the JIC fittings, put a tee in, and you are set. It cost me like 17 bucks. Well worth it to know how hot you are running

dansdodge,, this is not directed at you...

Taking the temperature from the pan, is really only telling you how good your cooler is working. You might be making 220* coming out from your torque converter, and your cooler can cool it back off to 120 by the time it gets to the pan.

Make sense?

This is why you need to measure your TC output temp. You'l lbe suprised how fast it can get hot.

I agree with Merrick. What's the point in knowing how hot the fluid is in the pan, when really, you want to know how hot the fluid in the TC is. Just save the money and do it right the first time.
