Tranny Cooler Line

Hey everyone,

I went to remove my hot line from the tranny to the cooler in order to install my T fitting for my gauge. The fitting that threads into the tranny was seized, so I ended up breaking that line in order to get the fitting out. My question is, should I look into getting another stock line and fittings, cut the line and install my T block. Or could I get away with using rubber hose and installing a Fitting that way? I know of one website that has the new line and T already on it, however they do not ship to Canada

Thanks!

With the pressure you're gonna run at, a rubber line is gonna bust.

I have the stock line sitting in my garage 47re. You figure shipping from Colorado and it's yours.

Take a look at Parker hose. I'm using in my truck when I moved the heat exchanger and it's held up great.

Thanks 2500Ram! I will try to calculate shipping and see what it would be. The only thing is the shape of the line is quite large. I will look around some more (as well as look at Parker Hose thanks to Mike D) and see if I can find anything around here in Ontario.

Do you guys have a general idea of what temperature and what pressure that line is seeing (have a Goerend HP Valve Body)?

Thanks guys.

Your Goerend VB will push in the neighborhood of about 160-190 psi at wide open depending on how Dave set it up. Temps should never go above 270* unless something is horribly wrong in which case lines will be the least of your worries.

let's see if this works or still needs approved (never uploaded a pic on this site).

let me know, perfect condition just dirty. I replaced it with one from a vendor with the sender built in. Approx 78,000 miles if that matters

Mine did the same thing. I just installed a 1/2"NPT x 1/2" compression fitting. then some 1/2" SS tube to the T. then the stock steel line to the trans. Works fine for over 2 years.

just a question here, not to steal your thread or anything, but where the stock line attaches to the tranny cooler, isnt there already a short piece of rubber hose or something similar to that that hangs down off the tranny cooler that the stock complete metal line attaches to? I ask because it looks like there is a small piece of line that is flexable that hangs off the tranny cooler so you can have some movement when putting on the complete metal tranny line. I am putting a new line on my 96 that has a T in it for the tranny temp sender and when i went to install it, that previouse owner had replace all the stock metal lines with hydraulic hose and the new tranny line that i got was to short because the small piece with the flexable hose on it was gone. Maybe i am wrong but thought i would ask, thanks

Ok, i just went outside and looked at my 01 that has the tranny temp port in the hot line and it looks like there is no small piece of rubber hose hanging down off the tranny cooler. How ever when i looked at my friends 97 there appeared to be a small piece hanging down off the tranny cooler that the metal line attached to. Maybe there is a difference between the different years. Here is an attached picture of what i was talking about, thanks
