tranny arrived couple install questions
Hey all , well I just got my tranny from Goerend, and first impression was how professionally and easy shipping method for the trans., and for me to resend core. Acouple of quick questions before I install this weekend:
1. Prefill torque converter with ATF4? Or install dry
2. I received a bottle of some type of additive from dave, does he want this in the trans when I fill it, or for down the road as miles grow
3. A little chip looking thing with a green wire, white and black wire, with instructions for it to be tapped into the computer on the engine bay firewall
4. And a plastic sensor was in the package with about 1/2" threads, it has a quick release connector for wiring. I can't find on the new trans where it would go? Is it an engine sensor dave provides ?
Other than these questions, the trans is sitting in back of truck waiting on me. I hope I can make myself wait until saturday. Thanks again all. Stephen

how much was the total price on this tranny to your doorstep? I am getting ready to purchase a new tranny for my truck.
1. You need to prefill the Torque Converter for sure.
2. I would say you need to put the additive in when you first fill the tranny up.
3&4 i would just call dave and speak with him.

Total including shipping both ways 3800, this was daves standard trans, triple disc converter, and flex plat. I also had a $1000 core, but get that back as soon as he gets his core back.

1. I'd ask Dave on that, I don't know if he ran it on his trans dyno. If he did it would still have oil in it.
2. Probably a friction modifier or something like that, add when you first fill it.
3. Fools the computer into thinking the valve body pressure are ok, this is because the line pressures are higher now.
4. It has the connector with it too? Anything in the instructions about it? When in doubt call Dave, he'll make sense of it for you.
