tranmission oil tube
The transmission output line dodge part # 5011244-aa to install sending unit for tranmission temp. gauge. Is there a flow restrictor that has to removed from the line for a 2001 Ram diesel auto. PLEASE HELP.

Bill could you explane how to remove the check ball from the line. Do you take the joint apart at the rubber line to remove it or push it out without taking the line apart? Hope you or someone understands what I am trying to ask. Thanks.

I'm curious too. Just installed one of these. It looked identical to the one I took off so I left it intact. Is there a problem with the check left in it?
Thanks,
Will

The ones I’ve taken apart had two snap rings, one on either side of the ball and housing. Just pop one ring, take out the unit, then pop out the other ring.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve done one, perhaps they don’t come with the check ball anymore?
If you can’t see it easily from the end of the tube it’s not there.
Like I said the check ball was part of a recall on the RH tranny, the RE has the backflow preventor built into it.
It could be now they are selling more lines just for tranny gauges so have eliminated the ball.
The reason you want it out is because on the RE tranny there is no need for two backflow devices.

It has something just past the 6 inch rubber hose in a brass coloerd part between the tube & rubber hose. I tried to loosen the fitting, but I couldn't get it come loose with moderate pressure. I'm worried about trashing it. I tried to blow air through it and could not.
My neighbor and I got it apart with a little more pressure. I pushed a rubber ball and spring out. I have no idea how anything could go through that.
