Flares are real. I can't say for sure what brand because the flares and the 5" lift were already on the truck when I bought it Dec '06 along with some well worn 255/85s.

Here's what it looked like when I bought it:

Pic is of our 2 yr old Vizsla's butt.

That's more lift than I'd like, but they look PERFECT on the factory alloys.

Gearing, schmearing--- I'll have plenty of grunt to turn them
Sorry about that. That was the easiest way to show you my wheel/tire combo. You almost had me talked into the M55s before I bought these tires.

The lift is a bit high, but MUCH more proportioned compared the the before pic above. I am very happy with the way the 315's fit on the stock wheels--not to mention, they look great.

Here's a shot of my friend's 98.5 CTD in the foreground with a leveling kit and some Big O XT 315s mounted on ford 7" alloys. His tires are really pulled inward at the wheel and it makes the truck handle a bit loose. He custom built the front bumper, but hard to see with the dark pic. The white 2nd gen is a '96 1500 V8, so we won't talk about it here.
