You give no personal info in your profile ... including location, but hauling 20,000+ lb of hay is fairly common practice around this part of the country... and throughout the midwest!
If done carefully, it works. If it didn't, I'm sure the Hwy Patrol would not look the other way.
I see it with lots of Dodges.... some Fords .... and no Duramax's

Doing it with Mach 6's ..... that's a whole nother story, and IMHO, might qualify as "flat crazy"

Crazy, no...but that is some weight!

I've grossed 40K with my 95, and that was about a 60 mile trip home...BlackDiesel has better brakes on his 02, and didn't go as far, so I don't think he's being unsafe...he also has an exhaust brake!

I've already been to 55K with the FL80, and that was without brakes on the trailer, so it's all in how you drive...BTW, I could stop fine with those air brakes on the FL80

From stories I've heard.... the hardest part can be getting the load moving out of a wet hay field..... in 4 low with all four tires slipping.

Yes, lots of people go over the manufacturer numbers, as I have too. But, a couple thousand over, not 20K over....

I don't doubt your sence and driving skills (being safe), and you saying you didn't go far just proves that.

I'm a rice farmer, and am not another clueless city slicker, so obviously I know too of what many of us have done with pickups and stuff we need moved. I know I've had my share of over width trips hauling combine headers. Is it completely correct and by the book of what we do sometimes? Heck no, but we know what we are doing.
