The Mach4s and a Smarty should be great. The whole reason I ent with my FMS box was to keep seperate control of the timing and fuel. I leave the Smarty on 1 timing only and play with the fueling on-the-move.

Finally got my hands on a Smarty. Still a little fuzzy on the "Adjust Options" features. For example lets look at the Torque option... the user manual says:
Torque
The Torque selection can be programmed with a value between 1 (stock) and 6 (high). To use the
default torque setting for the current CaTCHER level, press 0.
Now are there just 6 Torque levels total? Say I'm on SW#5... is the default Torque level for this CaTCHER already one of the 6 values? An example would be: If the default Torque value for SW#5 is 4, and I set the Torque level to value 2, would actually be selecting a lesser Torque value than the default value? Or are all 6 of the Torque values higher than the default level for this SW#?

I drove around a bit tonight on SW#5. When I got back home, I played around with some settings and currently have it on SW#5, Torque 4, and Timing 3. Haven't driven the truck with those settings yet.

I'll be towing on a trip next weekend and plan to turn the timing down for towing. The load won't be very heavy, so I'm going to try it on SW#5, but may go back to default timing for that level.

What exactly does the Torque setting do?

The Users Manual does a good job of telling you how to change the settings, but is horribly lacking on details of what the settings do. Kind of hard to know where to change them if you don't understand what they do.

I've never gotten an adequate (for my pea brain anyway) explanation of what the torque parameter changes. Timing is pretty obvious as far as when the injection event starts, duration makes sense as to the length of the injection event, but torque is a little vague.
I have towed up to 10k with my FMS off and the Smarty on SW#1 with the timing on 4 and had no problems. I have had to drive by my EGT forever, so I downshift to keep the revs up and it's fine over many mountain passes around here.

I use SW 1 for daily driving and SW 3 for towing the 12k GN. Works great.
