Towing mirrors? Which ones are best?
I am looking to get a set of towing mirrors to replace my standard power and heated mirrors. I would like to get some advice from people who have either replaced their standard mirrors with towing mirrors or who have the Dodge towing mirrors. My truck has dual rear wheels, so good mirrors are essential. I would love to find a set that are like the Ford mirrors that have a large convex mirror. I also want to continue to have the power and heated features.
How are the newer Dodge flip out towing mirrors? How much do they cost?
Thanks

Just installed the flip out's on mine, got them off ebay new with the backing plates, and I am pleased and would highly recommend them for towing as I was using the crappy slip ons that vibrate to no end and with these I have no vibration at all, you will lose the power and heat options if you have them as the flip outs for the 2nd gen do not have the options. They are a easy install, took a hour to do both. If you do go the ebay route make sure they have the backing plates with them. I paid around $225 shipped to my door on ebay from a actual dodge dealer who sells them on ebay, I just typed in towing mirrors and waa laa. Goodluck, Rick

Check this out. Adapts newer Dodge power towing mirrors to 2nd gen trucks. It is a little work but I did it and am very happy with the results.

imho, i think that the dodge mirrors look the best on our trucks. as far as function, i dont know how i ever did w/out them! even in regular driving-they are a big help. youll always have a blind area with any vehicle and mirror- but, its a great improvement for ease of normal lane changes , etc. even though were not drivin narrow vehicles, the stock mirrors are too hard to see around big trailers and boats(especially in the event of evasive maneuvers).as far as pricing, all of the dodge dealers that i would frequent for deal comparison told me from 200-to 230? per side( depending on the dealership). i found a dealership that told me the trick they were pullin on me and sold me them for 215 out the door for both. according to them, if a dealer prices them as an actual "part", you get a high price. if they price it as an "accessory", you get the lower price. so far , my glass hasnt fallen off . and, they stay positioned where i set them (i have read "horror " stories like that).

You might also want to check out PowerVision mirrors. I have the power extendable/retractable, power adjustable and heated PowerVisions - one of the best towing modifications I've made on the truck!

Hey Shovelhead, How do you like your **** mirrors? I think those are the ones for me. Are yours the "Delux" with the "crome cap"? I am curious if it is a real crome part or a plastic cover. Do they fit well?
Thanks.
Thanks.

jdeereboy, I love my **** mirrors! They were easy to install, and fit just like the factory mirrors. They come with a backing plate that helps support the additional weight. I have never noticed any vibration. Mine came with small convex stick-on mirrors to help with the blind spots -- saved me more than once. I didn't see any options for the "crome cap", so I can't help with that question.

I love 'em once I got used to 'em.
I was driving with the "Sport" mirrors since new.
The mechanical part of the install was a breeze.
The electrical wiring was another matter.
When wired as shown in the instructions, the up & down adjustment moved the mirrors left to right.
It took about a 1/2 hour to figure out what wire to attatch to what to make them work properly.
The heated option is sweeeeeet.
Mine don't have the "chrome" cap, just plain ol' black.

I had the non towing mirrors on the truck when we got our enclosed trailer. Bringing the trailer home, the wife said no way are you driving like this and got me the Dodge tow mirrors. They are get. When a little more money rolls my way, I am going to get the 3G mirrors and to the power swap.
