touchy washer gsk mod

I just did the washer gsk mod on my truck and love the extra 500rpm however it is real touchy. If im not easy on the throttle i get a bucking bronco effect. I expected this to a certain extent just not this bad. Are the 3k and 4k kits any better or are they just as bad? right now im on the fence if i should take the washers out or not.

That's why I don't like the washer trick...it takes too much tension out of the lower rpm springs. Springs too tight like that not only are too touchy to drive, but also affects your fuel mileage.
The real GSK kits don't do this.

Get the real kits,,,I used to have the washers on both my trucks, but have since put the real 3000 kit into both,, Pedal is so much better,.,, and being I live in the cold area,, with the washer mod I could not get my truck idled up to 1200 rpm when sitting there, it would be at 1500 or more,, so once i installed the true 3000 GSK i can up my idle to anything and it stays there.

You think its touchy now,, you should try and drive it with the washer mod in winter,, not good at all, best advice i got was buy the real kit and enjoy it

I have the 3k kit and it is touchy. It revs over 4k but only fules to about 2800. Would it help to tighten up the springs?

I hate to bring up an old thread, but this is all I could find on the subject. Could installing a 4gsk with the wrong protrusion cause my truck to buck under light lock-up acceleration? There is no problem in high rpm or WOT. Do i need to back off the nuts a little bit?

I don't quite understand how it would affect your fuel mileage. Can someone elaborate?

i found my bucking problem was that the star wheel was too loose and there was no preload on the spring. tightend it up untill there was a little preload and the bucking went away.

ill give that a try. Truck's in the shop right now getting my nv4500 swapped into it. Got sick of trying to find the time to do it with my crappy work schedule. Ill try that when I get it back.
