Torque Plate Install Question?
Which way does the open end of the plate go, to the front of the engine, or towards the rear of the engine. I put in a #8 with the open end towards the back of the engine, and now I have tons of HP, and pushing 31-32lb boost(don't know, scared of it and let off ???) I thought it went the other way but I couldn't get the AFC cover back on like that, so I turned it around and WHAM! Any help is greatly apreciated.

You did good. 8)
The HX-35 is efficient to 35PSI, and can be spun close to 40PSI before blowin' up.
A HX-40 can spin 40PSI all day.
I have found that most trucks don't like to sustain 30PSI boost for long periods of time. Most seem to overheat.

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
If you really want to have some fun....pull the #8 plate out and install a #10 plate and a set of 3k GSK...
Out of my 215 pump 97 5 speed I have seen 38 lbs of boost and been able to chirp the tires in 4th gear...
The #10 plate is so adjustable and the governor springs really help when pulling our 5er...
Oh I forgot...when you do the governor springs...go down the throat of the pump.

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
Yes.
Where is it installed? Stock position? Full forwards? Full Back? I put a #10 plate in a friends truck and it is about 1/8" from full back, and he loves it. Stock Clutch, and EGT are happy too!

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
I think close to stock, maybe a little farthe to the front of the pump. I'll move it a little more when I get the truck timed. What do you suggest for timing, I tow moderate to heavy loads(20K+ gross), and also drive solo 125mi. every day(interstate). Thanks

I think Piers is saying 14.5 to 15* Much above that and Headgasket's start becoming maintenance items.

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
The #10 in my truck is stock position or just a tad forward. EGT's are not a problem even pulling our 10k trailer. When running down the freeway pulling our trailer @ 60 mph..the EGT's are around 700*. When we go over an overpass..boost comes up so quick and temp runs up to about 900*. The truck feels so smooth..and it also seems like it is not working as hard as it did with the #11 plate pulling the same trailer.
Here is how my truck is set up ...
Scotty II
4" exhaust
PDR HX35/14
#10 plate
3k GSK
AFC spring kit
SBC 13" Con OFE

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
Pre turbo, or post turbo EGT Probe Rick? It sounds post.
Post is great for stock trucks, but will warn you of high EGT too late in a heavily BOMBed truck.

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
How about 15.5 or 16? thats what i was planing. My EGT's empty will goe to 1200 and hold there to about 2500 where the defuel slams the door on my power, and temps fall to 1050.

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
No its pre-turbo!...
I can push the EGT's thru the roof if I wanted to..Right after Piers and I did the GSk...we seen over 1400* with my foot planted to the floor... But since I dont pull my trailer that way...there should not be a problem...

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
With the Gov. springs and the EDM injectors you could use 15.5* - 16* without a problem. The #10 plate and some more air make for real funnnnnnnn!!!!!

1400 post turbo
The PDR 35x14 is way efficient, as compared to the stock 35x12. @ 32psi, 950 post turbo, moved the probe to pre & pegged 1500. The stock 35x12 is way restrictive @ high boost.

Re:Torque Plate Install Question?
That clears things up for me. I must have missed that.
Now that I really dig deep, it's 15-16* timing.
My Bad.
