I just ordered a trans from Dave Goerend. He has two torque convertor options. One stalls at around 1600-1700 rpm and the other stalls around 2000 rpm. I told him I would go with the 2000 stall but am wondering now if the lower stall would be better. What do you guys think?

 

I just got my tranny from him with the 900 / 400 convertor that is 5-800 rpm lower then stock. He also said i may see a slight increase in mpg city driving... key word might...
The 15 blade left twist is what he calls stock and its about 300 rpm less then what came from dodge . He said if i had a larger turbo then the 62-65-12 he would have insisted on the one you ordered because the rpm is needed to get the charger lit sooner to aide in smoke clean up, or if you plan to race the truck he would want to use a looser convertor that would be closer to stock stall speeds for the same reasons.
honestly if you tow heavy in my opinion you made the right choice... Just wondering what did he suggested to you he know his products and these truck very well... Mine is great for my lawn service trailer but we plan to buy a 5th wheel camper in the next year or so and my truck my be a little smokey with my set up and i may have to send it back and have the stall speed changed although right now im extremely happy with it...... Either way you have made a great choice, i couldnt be happier with mine...

 

He told me almost the exact same thing. When I told him I might add Mach 1.6's some time he recommended the higher stall although he would have glady put the lower stall convertor in if I would have told him to. Occasionally I pull a 23' covered trailer with high sidewalls 8'. Loaded it can weigh up to 15k. I also use it for my daily driver.

I like the idea of maybe better mileage for city driving and the lower stall speed. Wish I could test drive both.

Tryin to figure out what i'll like best.
