Torque Converter

Here's the situation, a friend of mine owes me some $, but rather than fork over all the $, he's willing to build me a heavy duty low stall t/c with billet cover. He owns a t/c shop, but all they do is build them, not install them. He says they build them all the time for diesel trucks and an upgrade to the valve body is not necessary, but recommends a shift kit to help with overlap. He says I'll be very happy with the improvement over stock. Being that I'm not a transmission expert by a long shot, anyone think I should jump on this. All I plan to run is an EZ and some 275's. He stated the t/c are rated to hold 850ft with stock configurations. What should I do?

Re:Torque Converter

If I were you I would get the TC and ask him to order the Valve Body. But If cant or doesnt want to then a shift kit will do good. You will be VERY happywith the difference that the TC and SK will make. SD03

Re:Torque Converter

Sounds good most low stall tc go for 800-1200 range. If it's not one of the big name brands, it would be worth around 800.00. You don't need a billet cover, save yourself a couple hundred more.
