Question torque converter

I'am new and need help.I own a 01 Dodge 2500 diesel and pull a 10000# horse trailer.I had a new valve body and temp.gauges.One was for trans. and the other for the torque converter. Here is the problem I'am having. When in traffic a lot of stop and go the torque converter temp. will climb to 220 degrees. Is this a problem to be concerned with if so any suggestions.
I also would like to install a chip to pull with. I need help.

The stock tc on these trucks is loose and generates a lot of heat. Pulling 10K regularly will definitely tax everything to the limits.

Ideally, you could get a replacement tc. The aftermarket units are much better.

In lieu of that, just install as much cooling for the trans as you can. A Tru Cool H7b is a great cooler, and going to a deeper tranny pan can also help a bit. PML and Mag-hytec make really good pans.

Try Geno's garage for the pans if the DTR store doesn't have them.

220 is getting border line, and a tight aftermarket converter will only make it go higher in stop and go traffic. One thing you can do is to put the tranny in neutral everytime you come to a stop. And like Hohn said, put an external cooler with a fan on it.

I know it's not the same thing, but in my truck if the fluid ever reaches 240 degrees, I change the fluid when I get home after the race.

Sorry can't help with the towing chip... I'm sure somebody that tows heavy will chime in...

A chip for towing? I'd start by looking at Quadzilla and Edge. Both make excellent mild performance/towing chips....
