Torque Converter

So need some help on this one. My converter is just about to give out. With my set up which would be the best one to go with? Have about $1500 budget on this, for install and all the stuff. I trust all of you, and know that you will not lead me in the wrong direction. Check out my sig and give me some feedback on this. Thanks for all the help.

Do you have a DTT converter now?? If so, it may have some warranty, or they can probably rebuild it for no more than $500 or so. I personally really like my Goerend triple disc TC. I think they are $1300, and have a lifetime warranty no matter what the use or HP is. Im still curious as to why the TC is going out if it is a DTT?

I just picked up a new holster so its a little stiff and grabby yet.

If you need a full out replacement converter, i have to agree with cumminsdriver635 and my own experience. Go with Georends converter.

Not sure on the DTT converter. I think that it is a stock one. I know the tranny is DTT, because I talked to the person that put it in. I will have to call him in the morning and see what convrter is in it. If it is not the DTT I should go with the Georends is the feeling that I am getting. Is that right?

I love my Suncoast triple disc, but everyone has their own opinion..... I had e a DTT in my old 12 valve and it worked great!Like cumminsdriver635 said if you have a DTT just get it rebuilt I think it cost about $300 to go through it. Just a tip if pull the inspection plate and if the converter is blue it should be a dtt.

Why mix and match parts? If you got a DTT trans, get a DTT TC to go with it.It makes future support, and upgrades easier,as well as DTT makes great stuff.

Contact whomever you choose for your converter and tell them what your usage/goals for the truck are. It will make a difference as to whether your are wanting a race truck, or a tool to pull your toys.

I would prefer not to mix different brand parts.... and if it is a DTT convertor I would definately start there. They have a lifetime warranty on some converter components.... and they make a great converter, IMO.

It is a stock converter, he left it in when they changed out the tranny about 2 years ago. He said that the owner before me ran out of money. I talked to a local shop in Idaho, that said they build TC for a lot of diesel trucks that have the lifetime warrenty, for about $1000 (that includes install), they said it was a triple disk. So I might go that route, unless I can be swayed another way. Also, is it normal when you are going about 25 and lean into the throttle a little that the rpm's go to about 3000 and you don't speed up at all? Is that the TC or the tranny? Not sure. Thanks.

I don't believe you are in lock up at 25mph so you may have more problems than you think. Either way, if the trans is coming out, tear it down and have a look.

You are probably over powering a stock converter.
