well i have a 99 and when it was bone stock, and i mean bone stock, i would top out at 22 to 23. the first mod i put on was a VA box and a boost elbow and the boost then jumped up to 33 to 34. but typcally a stocker should run between 19 to 23

To get more boost you must either put in a boost elbow(blocks the wastegate), use a manual boost controler(allows you to set the max boost you want, usually 35#'s for a stock HX35), or use the cheap turnbuckle method ( use a 6-8" turnbuckle and use it to hold the wastegate shut.

When a box is hooked up the MAP sensor this only fools the computer into seeing 20#'s of boost, in effect keeping it from defueling. When you are actually seeing more than 20#'s, the truck will still be fueling.

These have to be used together with each other or like in your case you will only see 20-22#'s or an overboost code if you block the wastegate withouta boost fooling box.

Mine would give me 18# normally. If I really stayed on it 19. With the injectors only I could get 23. + VA 25. Plugged the WG line and I see 34-35 max and settle to 33-34.

I just put a plug in the W/G sense line. I don't want any high pressure anyway so I haven't mechanically held the gate closed. a 1/4" bolt and a small hose clamp work fine. If you don't clamp it the line swells and allows the gate to open.

Just click here and you can see what everyone is talking about. It's not the cheapest route, but it is the one I have on my HX35.
