Tools Needed for Headstud install
Hey guys, I've finally got around to ordering my ARP Headstuds. I'm at school so I don't have immediate access to all my tools back home. What is all required to do the install while keeping the head on. (Headgasket should be seated well after 115k woukld like to keep it that way.) I'm tired of worrying about my HG so its time...

A bottom tap, a set of wrenches, and I think a set of allen wrenches. Just pull one bolt out at a time starting in the center of the head and work your way around the head in a counter clockwise (I think) way until they are all done. Make sure you bottom tap each hole and use plenty of lube.

Blues got bout all of em, only thing I would say is a ratchet makes it a lot handier, 22mm I believe is what size the bolts are,and a good torque wrench, and I believe you torque em in a clockwise motion, not 100% shure, shp manual is at school right now.

it can be done... it's a pain, and I hope your karma bank is full! 
you need a long tap or a quality tap extension... go easy w/ the tap!!! a little forward, back it off, a little more, back it off... it's going to take you a WHILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you can find a 2 flute tap, jump all over it!! don't snap as easy as 4 flute taps
do one at a time, have moly lube on hand for the studs/nuts... I would replace them in the factory torque sequence personally. (kinda **** when it comes to anything head gasket related!)
I would also check the valve lash while you're in there

ok well now im scared... lol know where i can get this long 2 flute tap? price? size?

I prefer a 3 flute. An M12x1.75 6" long is what I use. They run around 40-50 dollars. I think I have a couple laying around. It costs about 5 dollars to mail it each way. Don't forget a shop vac and a small piece of tubing to suck out the holes after you tap them. MSC carries the taps on page 278 of their current catalog. It is a plug tap, but I just grind most of the lead off.

I have to say I didn't bottom tap mine and haven't had a single problem. Take your time. Start in the middle and replace them one at a time in a clockwise motion. They way I did it was torque to 96ftlbs the first time, 110 after initial warm up and them 125 after about a week. As for tools,
Ratchet
10mm socket to get valve cover off.
15mm? socket for stock bolts
14mm socket for the nuts for the studs.
5MM allen wrench to put studs in
Torque wrench.
