Tools for changing injectors on 00 24v
My neighbor, friend, and I will be changing the injectors on his 00 24v when they come in and would like to know what special tools you need. Can anybody tell me a step by step way on how to do it. We are mechanically inclined but have never changed injectors before. Thank's Adam

Here is a link for some good instructions http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/ISB/injector_replace.htm Hope that will answer some of your questions.

Here is something that will help. Pay attention to steps 2 and 3. The valve cove will come off it is a PIA. Take your time and pay attention to what you are doing.

What are you putting in?
Good Luck
Edit I would take a digital picture of the injector lines before you remove the blocks just in case you forget where the spacer blocks go.

I read that info and there is some bad info in it. Do not touch the rear injector clamp bolt, just take out the front one and lift the clamp off. Also no puller is necessary for the injectors. Just screw one of the valve cover bolts into it and pull it out by hand. Usually squeezing your fist around the bolt gives it enough pressure to come out. If not pry a little at the bolt head, it will pop right out. I also like to put a little pressure on the injector nut before tightening the clamp bolt to make sure the injector is aligned good.
Someone can correct me if they want but the torque setting on the injector line nut may be a good starting place, but in the real world you tighten them not too tight and then tighten them until they don't leak. Sometimes that is quite tight.

For the injectors. First off get a couple old towels and fold them up and place over the hood latch! You have to lay on it, a little padding really helps the gut. I didn't take the aftercooler hose off of the intake/grid heater, just take the 4 bolts off the top of the grid heater and it moves off to the side enough to get to number 2 fuel line.
As stated in the article remove the rear engine lifting bracket, the bolts on this are very tight and hard to get leverage on them.
Remember the fuel lines have to come off and move to the side so you can get the tube out, they slide out real easy, with a small screwdriver to pry with, you could almost do it with a fingernail, they only need to slide out 1" or so. Put a little clean engine oil on the "O" rings before you slide the new injector in.
It says in the article to put a little vaseline on the copper washer
so it doesn't fall off but mine were tight enough, so I skipped that, up to you. Like Haulin in Dixie said don't loosen back bolt on injector hold down, loosen front one and it will slide out, also like he said when putting back together, alternate tightening of front hold down bolt and fuel line
To start I loosened up #1 and #3 fuel line,
cycled the lift pump a few times then gave the engine a few short cranks until al little fuel came out of number 1 and 3 then tightend them back up and cranked in short cycles until it started,
it will run a little rough for a few seconds then smooth out.
