Too much smoke!

Check my sig, for mods. This thing smokes like a train. Gotta keep the box down to 1 to take it easy on the amount of smoke produced.

What's wrong with my set up? Sticks to big, or turbo or both. Need bigger exhaust? I was under the impression that too much smoke was bad and wasting fuel.

Also, this thing gets hot real fast. I can hit 1300 in an instant with the comp turned up.

I'd appreciate any tips to help with my set-up>

Does it act like it has a boost leak or something? That will lead to TONS of black smoke and it'll be slow. Maybe it's just too much fuel for the turbo.

theres things ur not really telling us like wat the motors doing.. is there a lack of power or does the turbo spool hard? as for the exhaust . it wont help you reduce smoke but it does help you drop egts by a ton... and it is possible you could be overfueling ur set up? yes

My truck only smokes if I want it to. It's all in the right foot smoke control.

That turbo likes a loose converter.

No boost leak. No lack of power. Boost, top end i think is like 45. When I had the turbo and injectors we had to tinker around quite a bit to get the boost down. This thing wanted to hit 55+ when you stepped on it. My installer said that's way to high.

My guess was too big of sticks with too big of a turbo. Low end is where it's real smokey, runnin hard once boost get to 20+ ... not bad.

Would a smaller set of injectors or a different brand (Mach's) be better. I wanted to go with Mach 4's originally but settled for the Dragon Flows.

Try playing with the sub levels on the Comp.

He has a Silver 62 which should have a 74mm exhaust wheel. I considered this turbo but II flat said it needs a bit of stall converter for it to be ideal.

Injectors are fine. You're trying to turn 35" tires with an automatic turning 3.54 gears. That's the biggest problem is the load the truck is under trying to get the charger lit. I have a feeling once it's lit that it clears the smoke pretty good, correct? The sublevels of the comp can be adjusted and this controls when the fuel is brought in due to boost. You can adjust these by turning the box on first, then holding the power button until the lights start flashing. Use your left and right arrows to adjust the full fuel parameters in this menu. When you have your setting where you want it. Push the power button to save the setting and again to turn it back on. You can adjust the sublevels independantly from the main levels enabling you to run a 3 main level x 2 sublevel or 5 main level x 5 sublevel or however you feel the need to program it. By turning down the sublevels, you will ultimately have less smoke/fuel on the bottom end.

10-11 hole injectors are one problem, the other is the 8.1L John Deere turbo. I just don't see why anyone would use a 62mm compressor with a 73mm turbine.

Low gears, tall tires, tight converter, big turbo, big injectors....

Take your pick, it's all part of the problem.

Maybe different T-converter, or a helix 2 cam to spool the turbo sooner. The Silver 62 has the 74 mm turbine in it and its a little laggy but once it spool it will make good power.
