TOO MUCH pressure in fuel system?
I'm thinking of installing a stanadyne FM100 fuel filter with built in pusher pump back at the tank to help out my lift pump. The pusher pump puts out 10psi. Will this 10psi from the pusher with the 10-15psi from the stock lift pump give me TOO MUCH pressure at the inlet of the vp44? I think I've read of guy's having a tough time starting there trucks with too much pressure at the vp44 inlet. Is this true? Thanks. I have a '01 24v.

As long as the fuel pumps are activated by the factory lift pump harness then you won't have a hard start time. If you have the pump triggered by an ignition on source then you will. Pretty much anything over 25 psi at the VP44 is bad and will blow seals out.

Thanks for the info guys. I don't think I'll go with the stanadyne pump built into the filter, I'll just get the filter by itself and mount a seperate pusher pump downstream. If the pump dies on the stanadyne combo. unit, you can't just buy the pump by itself, you have to buy the whole thing! Any recomendations on a pusher pump that puts out between 5 and 10psi? I want something that will work with biodiesel as well so it can't have any rubber in it. Thanks.

crt-4600hp from www.summitracing.com puts out 6-8 psi.
One thing to consider if you live in cold climates with the fuel filter and no filter heater is gelling, it will happen.

Actually when I added my pusher it did compound the pressures?
5 + 12 = 17-18

Yep, that pusher will INCREASE your fuel pressure no matter what PSI it is rated at. Try and stay around 20 or below. Look for a 5-7 psi pusher and that should be perfect.
Like others said, wire it into the factory harness with a relay for on/off but draw your power directly from the battery.

Carter fuel pump
Is the carter fuel pump safe to use with alchohol? I'm wanting to run biodiesel in my truck at some time in the future and you need components that are ok to use with alchohol in the fuel system. Thanks.
