Like the sig says I've got a reg cab truck. I've been an audiophile for years and always had a system in my vehicles. However, all of those vehicles were cars until I got my truck. I still have the subs and amp from my car but I'm afraid they will just be too much in the truck. Ive got two Kicker 12" subs and a JBL 600 watt amp for them. They will fit if I build the box but will I ever be able to pass a hearing test again if I do this? Or should I sell the 12's and downsize to a set of 10's and smaller amp? Whadda you guys think?

If you want to keep your hearing, then never be around subs. The stuff in your ears tear with loud bass and it doesn't heal or repair itself.

I'm running 2 800w RMS 12's with a 1500 watt mono block amp under my backseat. I've got a quad cab though. Don't know how you'd live with that in a standard cab. That right there is enough to vibrate your chest.

It will be fine, there is a reason they put volume control on those things.

I run 2 12 JL Audio subs off a kicker 500 watt amp. It is very loud if turned up, but i dont turn it up very often, most of the time it is off and i have the Cb on instead. You should be fine

Have to agree with keep it and install it. If it's too much, turn down the gains or volume. Better to have the headroom than not enough.

With that said, I'm very happy with 2 10s and about 400 watts powering them, but then again, I'm gettin' old and not lookin' to impress the passing ricer.

Thatīs not really true!
Our ears are the most sensitive around approx 1-3 kHz and the least sens is in the basearea. The sensitivity varies with SPL(soundpreasurelevel) and at low volume you donīt hear the base and treble as good. Thats why you have the loudnessfunction.

Generally I would say, if it hurts, turn the volume down.
And then there is long time effects too, but you probably drives your straightpiped Cummins for hours, so whatever..

i have 2 dhd (piece of crap) 10's behind my seats and a 500w amp pushing them, and its not bad inside when turned all the way up. Granted the tens will rattle all of my mirrors, i am thinking about getting 2 15" JL audio W7's to replace the 2 10's. i say that everybody has their own tolerence, and shold go by that, and if your 12's are too much, turn the gain/volume down.

just a thought, how are you going to fit two 15 jls in a regular cab? I had two jl 12's with 1200 watts a peice and couldnt keep the rear view mirror in one place?

I wasn't talking about "sensitivity". I'm talking about damaging your ears. Not being able to hear it is exactly what I'm talking about. Low frequency vibrations are larger. You may not be able to hear it, but it's still making your ears go crazy more than anything. The stuff in your ears can't take those big vibrations -- they tear. The stuff is small and tender. As people have said, you can feel it vibrating your chest! You chest is big and hard. Think about what's happening to your ears.

What did ya'll say something? LOL!!! I have 2 p1s in my reg. cab, they are loud enough but I wish I had some P2s back there.

in my opinion 10's don't have the depth like a set of 12's do even at a low volume I would go with the 12's but then again I run 6# 12'' JLW6's with 2# phoenix gold zx500's and i am not def yet. but that's just my $.02

Wow didn't think I'd get this much response. My only concern was that the 12's would overpower everything since the cab of the truck is so much smaller than a standard sedan. I guess I'll be building a box next weekend!
