Something isn't adding up here......you mean a plateless 215 pump would run only as hot as 950* with the stock turbo? That just doesn't make sense.....the probe is preturbo, right?

i'm with CTD it doesn't sound right, but even with stock injectors those pumps will push enough fuel to over run the stock turbo from what I hear.

kroner you said you can hit 42 psi and egts hit 1200... after (i assume you meant post turbo) if that is the case, mark at PDR had told me that post turbo you read 300 cooler up to 20 psi.... but after that you must add 10 degrees per pound of boost. using those caltualtions it tells me you are actually hitting 1720 degrees pre turbo...

That sounds right to me. 300 to 500 degrees difference post turbo. 1700 degrees is pretty darn warm.

The pyro is in the exh elbow and I was adding the 300 degrees, so it would only be 900. sorry for being confusing. Does anyone kno why the temps would rise with the bigger turbo? I know im not past the 400+ hp this turbo is supposed to be good for so whats the deal?

Have you tried putting your stock plate back in and seeing what the EGT's do?

the problems you have sound like the ones I have had wit a 98 12V auto

When the truck was first bombed it had DD2's a #10 3Kgsk's and a PDR hx35 (14)

the truck ran ok for a while hot but you could control it with your foot

After a while the truck ran super hot and would not cool down under load

took the truck to the dyno day thinking "yea it has a good seat of the pants feel, must be a 350hp truck" NOPE 250Hp is all it would put down with DD2's and the #10 All the way back

I tried every thing to get the truck to cool down Every thing my pocket would allow

the truck would Idle at 400* on a cool day (30-40* in colorado) with a bahf and the hood open with the truck cool (ie 5-10 min idle time)

I took the dd2's out and put the stockers back in same thing just a bit less power

I changed the 14 to a 16 housing no difference

re set the timing to 16* same thing

I started thinking HOW can a 97 5speed truck with 3K's and a #10 (4.10 gears) and a stock turbo STOCK no elbow and stock exhaust do better than the 98 with a bigger turbo and a mbrp kit???????

this leads me to the question at what point does a bigger turbo negatively effect the way a truck runs and HOW does it effect the way a truck runs?

do the "advance notches" on the tops of the 215 pump help to advance the timing at the higher rpm's

do the 4.10's take that much load off over 3.54's?

the one thing I can say is good luck with finding the problem
