I've had BFG's for years on my trucks and had good results. As for the tire size...don't quote me on this... but 285's are like 33" and 305's Are 34.5" But if you go to a site like tirerack.com...They ususlly give you dimensions, reviews and such... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tiretech.jsp Here is a link.

May not be what your looking for, but check out the mastercraft courser C/T's. Great tires for quite a bit less than the BFG's(which i aslso like). I have heard the Nitto's, and BFG's are both great too though, so its just whatever you prefer.

Tire diamater calcualtor... Handy tool.
You might look at the Cooper Discover S/T. I will be getting a set of those in a few weeks. A buddy of mine has has 3 sets of them on a PSD and has gotten 50k out of each of them, lots of towing, gravel roads, and off road...
