tired of playing musical turbos
i have a question for ya. i am tired of trying to find the right turbo. i went through 4 on my old truck; one was good for towing, but sucked at full throttle runs, another on was good for full throttle runs, but sucked for towing. got tired of messing with it, sold the truck. now i have a 96 with an auto and i have a htbg on it. it keeps up fairly well unloaded, but towing is another story. i have decided to throw maybe an ht3b under it. would this be a good set of towing twins for a truck making somewhere around 400 hp. my thinking is that it spools very quick so it would be better for towing, specially at elevation compared to say a 62/65 or 62/71. am i on to something here, or am i way off?

I am surprised you are having issues with the 57mm when towing, being that it isn't much larger than stock. Track down a K31 to run under it. 71mm compressor, wastegated exhaust housing. Same external dimensions as an S400, so you can swap in a bigger primary when the mood strikes you.

thanks for the advice tate, i heard your are one of the turbo gurus here. my turbo spools pretty quick, i think it is just too small because it can get pretty hot when i start heading up a hill. i plan on putting a #10 fuel plate in it, to get me by while i am collecting all my twin parts.

The K-31 is more $$$ than the BTH-3B but will spool-up faster. Of course there at millions of configuration out there. With a 57mm, and a tight secondary turbine housing, I would look into an 40-50mm external gate, just to improve your top end power. How do you have the injection pump set-up? You know what you have for timing on the truck?
