Smile time for turbo and clutch

well it looks like i am gonna have to go ahead and get the turbo and clutch...

before the van aaken box i ran a best of 15.5 @ 86 on injectors only...yesterday with the VA installed i got a best of 16.2 and my mph were down 4mph due to the excessive heat on top end. EGTs were nearing 1500 thru the traps and it just made no power up top.

Time for a BIG single and clutch...as long as its streetable!!!

Everyone has an opinion on this one! haha...here is mine!

Cluth - Southbend. At least OFE.....can go FE but grabby off the line.

Turbo - I like High Tech Turbo's HTB series. I would say that the HTB2 would work real well for ya. AND if you needed to upgrade to a larger turbo, you can send it back in and for $200-300, you have a bigger turbo! Plus the initial cost is very reasonable. Check em out -- www.hhturbo.com

It sounds like you do alot of drag racing from this and your other posts.. Its deff time to upgrade your drive train now that your getting more serius about running your truck down the strip.

yes I do like to drag race... i like to be the different guy who comes out in a diesel and spanks the competition in a 7600lbs truck

i know its not meant for it...but then neither is any other factory car out there.

i am looking at getting a clutch that will handle over 450hp and a second gear launch in 4x4...then after that i will be uprgading the transfer case and rears if needed.

right now without the racing aspect...i need a clutch and turbo jsut to drive daily...this thing gets hot in a heartbeat. approx. 5 seconds to go from about 750-1500 degrees in 6th gear wot...pulling from 65mph...i can hold it out to like 85-90mph but by then its getting REALLY hot and i ease out and cool her down.

this weekend i am towing a race car 150 miles and i will need to pull the VA and try to keep the rpms up while towing to keep the turbo cooled down.

Man, those are some crazy temps!! I can only get about 1200 WOT with my VA, and the best boost is about 24PSI!!
What kind of boost #'s are you running?? Do you have any exhaust work done yet? Better pull that muffler nad go straight, might help!

i have 4" right from the turbo...i am getting about 35psi with this set-up...which is DD3's and the VA

even without the VA i am seeing 1400's on a long pull, but i am just gonna get a turbo to push more air and solve the issue...then go from there

Guess I should have read your sig a bit better!! All I saw was the "1/4 mile: 15.5@86, stock turbo, no box, on a 6spd manual at a weight of 7600lbs"

Next time I will look a bit closer
