Time for some more power
#1
adrenaline or attitude?
Ok, so I'm ready for some more power (you guys said this would happen - darn this site).
I also need gauges but the warden says no on the piller pods (I kind of agree). I think that leaves me with edge or quadzilla. I'm not looking to press my luck with the vp44 so no tapping the wire.
Which one is preferred for my truck (I've read some boxes work better on gen2's than others).
What can I expect for perfromance gains and drivability. I usually use this truck loaded with a camper and pulling either a 1k boat or a 6k boat.
With 140k on the stock injectors, and experiencing acceptable mileage and no problems, should I consider swapping them?
Thanks for your opinions....

I would say get a quad xzt+ there is tons of tunes on line to down load and change, non wire tap so its 65 hpish. Then you can get the outlook monitor for gauges, You dont need other injector but a set of rv275s will give you another 40 hp and mabey help with the milage. That may be a bit much for your clutch to handle tho depending on your driving habits.

The rv275s are probably cheaper, but I'm glad I got my Mach 1s. Agreed on the clutch--with any set of improved injectors and a box, your clutch may not last depending on how you drive it, and towing will only increase the strain on it. If you drive it fairly gently down at the lower rpms and save the power for higher up in the rpm band, that'll help things.
For gauges I strongly prefer real gauges over a box that has a little display on it. If all you care about is EGT, then something like that would probably work fine. If the wife would be okay with a dash pod instead of the pillar mount, then I'd say go with the dash pod.

You really can't beat analog gauges in the a pillar for a clean looking setup in my opinion =P Especially autometers that match the oem gauges.
As far as your current setup you're definitely ready for a box and some sort of gauges. Injectors would be fine down the road, but you wouldn't reap the full benefit of them with out a box of some kind. There's lots of good options out there plus since you're not tapping the pump wire they will all make virtually the same amount of power so its hard to go wrong. Later with injectors and the right turbo setup its possible to make 490+ hp without tapping the pump or buying a fancy box.

Ok, opinions.
If you decide to choose a non-wire tapping box like mentioned above, then the best set of stand alone digital gauges is our Scout. Hands down. It monitors pretty much everything our Pulse does with the Adrenaline.
The problem is that an XZT+ and a Scout is not a whole lot cheaper than an Adrenaline. If you go ahead and get the Adrenaline you can leave the wire tap off and you still get added benefits of the Turbo Timer, some of the custom tuning, warm up modes and de-fueling options.
Either the Scout or the Adrenline can monitor fuel pressure. You can also get a TT kit for the Scout but, at that point, just buy the Adrenaline, its cheaper in the long run.

I would agree. Get a bigger box, like an Adrenline and leave the pump untapped. You sound like more power will eventually be wanted anyhow. Your clutch should hold fine if you drive right. I was putting down 450hp on my stocker for over a year and it looked good when I pulled it out. I rarly put all 450ponies down while driving, only on the dyno and it held every time.
