Thuren track bar and crossover steering review

Now that I've got a few hundred miles on the setup I can post about it. I recently installed the thuren's weld in track bar and his crossover steering setup on my truck and the difference is night and day.

I installed the track bar first (which is a work of art) and immediately noticed a difference between it and my DT bar. A lot more solid and I lost a lot of popping and clunking in my front end while turning.

Sunday I installed the crossover steering (yet another work of art). I don't know why people make such a big deal about drilling out the pitman arm. I put it in a drill press and in under 5 minutes I had drilled it out. Got everything installed and aligned and took it for a spin and WOW. The truck actually goes straight and I don't look like a drunk trying to keep it in the lane. You turn the wheel and the truck moves. You let go of the wheel doing 70 down the highway and it stays in the lane. Big thanks to Don for his help and incredible craftsmanship.

I was too lazy to go to town and get a puller for the pitman arm...under the truck, with a dewalt drill, it's a PITA to drill out! Just as you start getting some progress made, your arm gets tired!

I also want to say thanks to Don for great products, and good service when you need it! 10K miles on my trackbar and steering with these 19.5's, and not a single problem with them!

bigb ya they are a work of art i love my crossover steering and it seemed to reduce the right hand pull when i brake{ the 99 plague} it also gos as stright as an arrow. and it looks sweet, and way different than the rest of the dodges. it makes those chevy front ends lookeven weaker.

Dr. Evil, yes I have a DSS. I love that to.

cowboy717, the crossover steering eliminates all tie rod ends and replaces them with heavy duty heim joints. You have to drill out the steering knuckles and pitman arm to 3/4" so it is a permanent thing. I love it though. It steers so much better now.

Chris, yeah, I've done enough steering boxes that I bought a pitman arm puller. Makes life easy when you can throw it on a drill press.

I hate to tell you guys I told you so.....but man, y'all take a while to catch on.

cowboy717, x-over steering doesn't replace the track bar, what it does replace is the inverted Y factory steering set up that causes the front wheels to toe out when the suspension compresses. It also replaces the sloppy OEM style TRE's.

If you replaced your current track bar with one of Don's, it'll be the last one you'll ever have to buy.

If you have a puller, how long does it take you guys from start to finish for the x-over steering? How much better does it take bumps and road feel? I am tired of how this thing rides up front.

I'd say that start to finish the crossover steering should take only a couple of hours. That's including aligning it as well. It's very simple. You will lose your steering stabilizer when you go to the crossover steering but I have yet to have a problem with not having one. Going over incredibly torn up roads the truck tracks straight and true and doesn't try and jerk all over the place.

You mean the antisway bar.... or the DSS? Thought with the bent bar you could keep both??

Cowboy 717 - You wore out a 3rd Geb track Bar in 10 months?? How many miles?
Mine is still going strong with 80,000 + on it. But I do agree the Thuren is stronger. Would have gone that route if it was available when I did mine.

Neither...stabilizer shock is a better term for it!
