Thuren track bar on 99 last night - wow!

I ordered a Thuren track bar for my dad's 99 for his birthday and installed it last night.

Before, it drove like a drunk was behind the wheel. After we installed it (about 30 minutes total) we took it for a drive. Now it has almost no wander and the steering is very tight. I am extremely happy and impressed with the results. Also I would like to mentiont that the fabrication quality is very nice. Mr. Thuren does beautiful work. I'll post some pictures later to show the difference. The thuren piece looks like it belongs on some heavy equipment. It is definitely built to last.

I recommend one of these to anybody with a 4x4 dodge

I'll second that!

Been running one on my 96 for a couple years now. After an alignment, and even with out a shock type steering stabilizer, I have no wander and DW is gone!

Here's some pics. Check out how much beefier the ball joint end is!

Yes it is much more heavy-duty and the components are designed so you don't have to buy a new one in 10k miles. Also his customer service is unbeatable!

I really like mine. The control arms have been good too. I had the 2nd gen type for years. I recently switched to a 3rd gen type with a relocation bracket to give me some more clearance.

Track bar

I just bought a new track bar myself today. Will install in the next couple of days, any tips on the install. Did you use a pickle fork to bust free the tie rod end or did you use a puller/
Thanks
Alan

I didn't use either one. A trick that always works for me it hitting the outside piece. First I hit downward on the threaded part after backing the nut off. Then hit sideways on the frame mount and the track bar fell out. I'm not sure why that works so well.... I guess it sends some kind of vibration through and works it loose.

Do you need to do an alignment when you install it, or do you just adjust it to the same length as the stock piece and be done with it?

Yes, just adjust the length. There should be no need for an alignment since it doesn't change the steering or suspension geometry
