Throttle issue?????

OK guys, whats the problem here? I just a new goerend trans and i love it. Now i have a trottle issue and i am hoping it not the trans.

Here is what its doing......
When im driving i loose all acceleration and when i push the peddle more it either does nothing at all or after a few seconds it acts like it drops into a passing gear and then accelerates or i have to let completely off if the throttle and get back into it.

I do not drive hard or unsusal so i have no idea what the issue is......

I have plenty of fuel pressure according to the attitude monitor (18 - 24 psi)

So has anyone had a similare issue or does anyone know that the problem is

Thanks
Aaron

sounds like classic symptoms of either a dead or dying Vp44 injection pump or either a bad APPS. What codes do you have, have a check engine light on? A bad APPS will throw a check engine light, however a bad VP44 alot of the times will not.

After i installed the trans the edge jucie w/ attitude started gving me an issue and that just ended up deing a bad ground and its all better now. The check engine light did come on and these are the cods that i got
PCU
P 1693
ECU
P 0237
P 0238
P 0236
P 0216

WOW LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND!!!!!!!!!! WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) that mean your VP44 needs replaced:
P0216 (this is often refered to as the code of death, this is the most common code for VP44 pump failure)

AND AS LUCK MAY HAVE IT P0216 IS ONE OF THE CODES IM GETTING

NOW what a good pump? should i go with a stock replacement? or throw caution to the wind (cus its only money and you can take it with up) and get a high performance pump?

If i go with a high performance pump what other upgrades will i need to do so i dont kill it?

Thanks again
Aaron

First off what are you running for a fuel pump, aftermarket or stock? I see in your sig that you are going for 800hp in the end, but to get there it gonna take a Monster VP or a Dragon Fire VP, both of which are about twice the price of a stock VP which you can get for about 900 bucks or so. Is this vehicle your daily driver or just a weekend toy? They also make Hot Rod Vp pumps but from what ive heard, they dont really make any more power then your standard SO VP44 which you can get around 550 or so horse out of.

I have a Holly Blue aftermarket pump on in now and it gives me good pressure according to the edge monitor.

800 hp is probly never going to happen on my budget on top of having my first kid on the way.

The truck is not an every day driver by any means. Ive had it for almost 6 years and i have only put around 50k miles on it

I did look at the bd hight performance pump last nithgt and they said that they recomend a bd single or twin turbo setup to get better air - fuel ratios. will funning a high performance pump without a bigger turbo and/or injuctors mess up the pump?

Be careful what you wish (hope) for.... you may get it.
P0216 = Dying VP-44.

I do not care for full time heavy fueling. I would stay with a regular VP-44. In hot summer months, it's nice to be able to turn down the smoke....if desired.

P0216 doesn't always mean dead VP-- only about 99.99% of the time

I'd stick with a stock pump for sure. Any "hot rod" rebuild has poor reputation for durability and road manners.

Here's some good reading on the VP44, also a good place to buy a new pump. Stick with the SO pump.

This site has good pricing too.

OK, from what im understanding, do with a stock vp44? I dont know a whole lot about these things, but will a stock unit handle larger injectofs (someting like 75's) and will it get burned out again with the edge juice with attitude set-up that i am running.

And what is a good unit to go with? BD? DDP? etc

Thanks

For stock units I have has good service from ndustrial Injection. Lowest prices as well.
There is no concrete evidence that Chips, or bigger injectors shorten VP-44 life.
How long they last seems to be the luck of the draw!

For best quality and longest life..... I recommend Blue Chip's VP-44. Guarantteed 100% rebuilt with new parts!
