Thoughts on this Setup

Hey Guys

Just wondering if i could get some opinions on this setup i will be installing in the next few weeks, and any problems i may come across.

The truck is a 98.5 24V 5spd, and the goodies i got for it are.......

-HTB2 62/65/12 turbo
-Mach 4 Injectors
-Smarty (not with Revo S/w)
-TST comp
-FASS 95 GPM
-4" MBRP exhaust
-SBC CON OFE

Anyone see any bottlenecks that may arise? Turbo big enough?
Any guesses on HP?

Also, whats the thoughts on the new REVO S/w for the smarty? Worth Getting?

Thanks in advance!

Jeff

looks close to a 500 hp setup. Although the turbo with a 12 housing might limit you due to your egt's. Other then that should make good power and spool quick.

The turbo will spool great but hurt your top-end power. I rec. the South Bend slave to go with the clutch. If you tow heavy it might get warm.

My brother has almost that same setup on his 02. The only difference is he has a PS 62. His truck made 486 hp, but he has the H.O. injection pump....

The FASS 150 pump is wrong for the application. Your truck will burn a max of about 80 gph. Add another 10-20% for cooling and fuel dribble, and you can see that a pump 150gph is will so restricted from it's optimal design that it will only heat the fuel, aerate it, and reduce the pump life as it contantly fights more restriction than it needs to.

The only way to use this pump and let if function properly is to use a large bypass regulator that allows the pump to just circulate fuel in a loop if engine demand is low.

You're running a mid sized HP turbo, if you want more top end go with twins or a larger turbo. The turbine housing is on the small side. A S400 under that turbo would make for a nice driver. Tuned right, you put up to low 600's with those injectors without nos or methanol.

What would you guys recommend for a larger turbo with this setup? A 64/71/14? I was hoping to be able to run the 62/65/12 for awhile before i had to upgrade...........

What kinda boost pressure's can i go up to without worrying about the HG with stock head bolts?

Don't get us wrong, it will work, just watch pyro for high egt's. If you tow, you might have to find a smaller set of sticks. Its a good starting point, I've run the fass150 for at least 4-5 yrs and got about 150000 miles on it. You wont have any issues with it. It for future down the road power upgrading.

I've been running 45-47 psi for a while now on stock bolts with no issues. Make sure its warm first and don't stay at 45 psi all day and you should be fine. My 62/71 seems to work pretty good.

Sammy, a smaller turbo is only going to limit you're top end power. I probably wouldn't run the smarty /TST with that turbo. If want to make more HP go with NOS at dynodays and run the smarty. You have a nice daily driver turbo that works well on spoolin fast, just the turbine and compressor impeller is on the small side for big hp numbers. A S400 under that turbo would work very nicely. You just have to land if you want that big power level you want every time you push that throttle down hard.

Understand this, going from a 62/65/12 to a 64/71/14 is upsizing three things, the housing size, the turbine size, and the compressor size. Only reason to go that big is if you wanted a competitive truck. I'd go with a bigger housing for the stick and maybe a bigger turbine if you to have a little more fun.
