I got 35"s and my problem is the tire doesn't even fit inside the frame. I got it tucked up in there as best I can, cuz I use my bed too much to put it in there. It is nice havin stacks though, no need to worry about that aspect of it. But as long as ya don't have a locker or LS a smaller spare shouldn't hurt, look at how many cars just have lil donuts for a spare.

I have 305.70 on my truck and 285.75 as a spare and it does not touch the exhaust on my truck, although fits without much play into the spot under the frame. I replaced the stock size spare to the 285 because I didn't want to change 2 tires if a rear went flat (would have to move a fwd tire to the rear, spare to the front. Otherwise I would be burning up the LSD. I could not find a used 305.70 for a spare, and the 285 is the same diameter.

Question is who has a larger jack to even change your tire in your truck I found the stock jack wouldnt raise high enough to get the tire off the ground just something you might want to check I added 2 2X8 blocks to the tool box to put under the jack if I need more height instead of caring a large floor jack.

I have a aftermarket bottle jack...something rediculous like 20 tons but it was the only one high enough to reach.

The only reason I got a 285 spare is because someone stole my 265 spare and i got the tire and rim for 35 bucks. Now I just need to figure out how to keep the exhaust from burning it. tomorrow im going to look at relocating the holder.

Why not re-route the exhaust if it's that important to have the bigger tire?

I'd just make a shorty of the exhaust and dump it in front of the rear tire out the side with a little downturn.

That should eliminate spare tire problems-- well, except for the kind that come from having a beer gut
