To those with 350-500hp on a single turbo

Alright, im just curious how hot most of y'alls trucks get running wide open at the 350-500hp level. List your turbo, mods, and dyno numbers if you have them, and tell us about your EGT's and boost. Im mainly looking for info from guys with between 57mm and 64mm chargers.

Im curious if there is a single turbo that is good to tow with that will keep 400hp at 1300-1400* on a hard run down the 1/4 mile. As of right now I can peg 1500* by 60mph on a hard run taking off from a stop, but im curious if a 62mm turbo or something similar would hold me down to about 1300* for an entire 1/4 mile pass. I wont be buying a turbo anytime soon. I just got this HX40 and i like it a lot so far, I just think it would be interesting to see some feedback on this.

I'd think a 62/71 would be your best bet. Cools just as good as a 64/65/14, but man the exhaust note is much better. I was going to delete my muffler for a little more noise, but with the big 71 turbine I can really make the exhaust sing. Reminds of of how a straight piped stock exhaust with a hx35 sounded, but better.

My truck typically runs out of road before getting into any sort of egt troubles. You're aiming for 100 hp less out of a 12v so its probably a fair comparison.

Ive got the phat shaft 62/12 and its about as quick as stock to spool and its got some good power in the mid and top end. Low end power is mostly dictated by fueling and how fast you spool. Its about what it was stock for me.
I have yet to get over 1200F with my setup even with the pedal to the floor at high rpm.

When my 24v still had the HRVP, 80hp sticks and the Smarty, I couldn't break 1300 degrees. Did a 30-180km/h run (on a closed course). That was with a 62/71. That turbo will be going on the 12v soon. I expect it to be a bit hotter, but should still be quite comfortable for longer runs.

I made 309/751 rear wheel on a WH1C stock. I have a set of 181's that should add 20-25 more rear wheels horsepower. Right now, I don't get over 1100* with my set up and pyro pre turbo. Boost hit about 32# at that power level too. I have a lot more timing than you though. Maybe you can consider dropping to 181's and get more useable power. I have heard that although the 191's will flow more fuel, the 181's have made great numbers too on the dyno. That might equate to useable street power.

Mods and truck in sig. I can hit 1650 or so on a hard pull. Most of the time though just normal driving, EGT's are fairly manageable. Cruising at around 7-800

I had 181's in mine before the 191's. I still have them actually and dont plan to get rid of them. They were really a pretty good delivery valve. They added a little over my 131's, but EGT's stayed the same. With the setup i have now, except with the stock HX35, the most i would see was 1300* pre turbo through the 1/4 mile. The 191's are what really pushed my EGT's up, but they also added quite a bit of power. Id like to try my 181's with my new era 370s to see how the combination compares EGT/power wise. I may try a few more things when i get my tranny built and head studded. The studs are on the way though Then ill bump my timing up to 19* or so.

Is that a super B special(64mm), or the standard SuperB(57mm)?

When I went to the track the other night, I hit 1680* before the end and started to lift. I bet if I had stayed in it I would have hit 1720*.

On the dyno when I hit 499.2 hp, I don't think egt's went much past 1380 to 1400*.

On my second run down the track I tried a lower Adrenaline setting to try to not slip the clutch. PL 4 resulted in 1380* and 0.58 sec slower. This run was not a completely fair comparison because I had major wheel hop/bouncing and had to lift at the start which resulted in 0.25 sec slower 60'.

MPH was nearly identical between the two runs.

On a closed course, I can floor it with everything set to kill on a 60 to 90 mph run and peak out at 1480*.

Also note, outside temperature makes a huge difference on EGT's. I'm going to the track again on Nov 21st and it will be quite a few degrees cooler so I don't expect to see 1680* again.

In fewer words:
on the street and dyno= egt's are in control

at the track= egt's are too high for comfort. 16 seconds WOT is a long time!

I think higher timing would help me out quite a bit. EGT's are fine until i start to get up around 2600 or so. If I run it WOT at say 1800-2200rpm, EGT's get to 1200 or so and climb slowly from there.

My turbo is off an 05' third gen. Yes, it's a stock turbo. 04.5-07 5.9's came with the HE351cw. 60mm compressor so yeah, it flows more than the stock HX35 with 54mm compressor.
