thinking about going to a twin setup, tranny upgrades..

Well I have found a very good deal on a set of twins, plumbing etc. I was previously considering the jump to an PDR HX-40 or 50 but with the price on these twins I think it would be foolish not to jump on them. My tranny already has a Suncoast 1835 lowstall converter, and valve body. What else should I do to the tranny before the jump to the twins? I dont pull, hell I dont even have a hitch on the truck. It's a 3/4 ton play toy. It has 41,000 miles on it. Thanx for any info.

Honestly not sure where you should go with auto tranny work, I row my own gears!

What kind of injectors are you running? What are the twins you are looking at?

The twin setup is a Schwitzer HT3B, and an S-300 lower. My injectors right now are 5.9 ISB's .012? Whatever the hell that means.Im not to familiar with the sizes on the 24 valvers. It was a lot easier with the 12 valve when I knew I was buying 350-375 horse injectors etc. My truck was set up by a very good pulling shop so I let them use their judgement.

Might need to find out more about the injectors from the people that installed them. I would get an HP rating. All that will help in terms of getting good advice on what you need to do to the tranny.

Also, I am fairly certain in a compounded set of turbos the little one goes on top.

Am just picking your brain! I would like to see how all this pans out as well!

You are probably right. I really dont know that much about the twin setup other than the fact the setup I found is a decent deal, in fact it's not all that much more than going up to a bigger single. I wasnt really thinking about twins but more HP for not alot more $ always sounds good to me.

You'll need a Billet input shaft.

Depending on how many holes, those injectors would be above 100HP, but less than 170.

The Large turbo being an HT3B, and small one an S-300 sounds like a good combo, although it does sound like you have them "reversed" in your description. The S-300 should be "on top", or on the manifold, while the Big turbo is "on bottom".

The best price Im seeing on the billet shaft is about 595. Is that about what I should be paying?

I ran that como on my truck last year. The stock s-300 with the ht3b is a pretty laggy setup with my 5-speed. I could not get any boost built up until about 2200 rpm. Its gonna be very doggy on an auto truck. The s-300 is a lil bit to big for the ht3b. At that price these are most likely stock turbos. It all depends on what you want. JMO

Things are starting to sound like I should be looking into a bigger single setup.

Once you go twins you'll never go back. Yes that would be a lot of lag with those turbos on an automatic. If you were running a stock turbo you could have it reworked and use it for your upper or first turbo. It would have alot less lag.

Can you think of a better combo of different size schwitzers? I may be able to get the company to work me a deal on something that wont give me so much lag.

You would think they would know what turbos would work.

MoreSmoke,

I would advise asking the shop you are dealing with (vaught technologies)
if they offer a kit utilizing your HX35 as a top turbo.
Also you would have to purchase a non wastegated 16 or 18cm turbine housing for decent flow up top (for the HX35).

If you have anymore questions, drop me a pm.
