Coulda spun a bearing.
I've seen a few older Cummins spin bearings when they break in nicely (100K miles) and then get a power adder. Within a few thousand miles it's knock-knock-knock.
It shouldn't cost maybe $3k to fix a bearing and $7k to fix a melted piston. If you do the work yourself, and the machine shop isn't too greedy.
You have to pull the motor to do a bearing.

How did you check the injectors? Did you cut them out manually while the truck was running? Have you noticed that your oil pressure has changed since the knock? Valve noise and bottom end noise to me are quite different.

I Put In My Injecter Set I Run In The Summer , No Didnt Try To Cut Them Out Manually Good Thinking I Will Try That ,no Mis In The Motor And The Oil Pressure Has Not Changed, Iv Been Drag Raceing For 15 Years ,gas Cars And I Have Seen Weird Things And This Is A Sound That Is Just Like A Rod Knock Its In The Top And Front Rockers Are Good Lash Is Good .yes The Two Sounds Are 'quite ' Different I Know What It Sounds Like I Just Cant Believe What Its Doing .im Going To Think About It For A Day Or So , I"ll Take The Head Off And Look And Then The Oil Pan. Theres No Blow By Like A Smoked Piston Would Make .its Not Smokeing Out The Ex Pipe . Wish And Hope Its Something Different Then It Sounds Like Thanks For All The Replys Ther Helping Me Think

DD, I don't know if you can rent one of these or if it would even fit through the injector hole but it might be worth a try before you pull the head. Maybe you know a plumber that has one. http://www.ridgid.com/Tools/SeeSnake-micro

Jack the engine up a couple of inches and drop the pan
you may want to get your oil analized that can see a lot too
You can rebuild yourself for about 3k if you go back stock I just did it 6 months ago

Good point, a oil analysis should be able to at least point you in the right area to look.

I have worked on large industrial diesel engines that had what I would have sworn was a rod knocking. Most of the time it turned out to be a failed nozzle or injector dumping un atomized fuel. What does your smoke look like?

That has to be one of the coolest tools I've ever seen. Easily a million uses for that thing!
Thanks for posting that.
