Thumbs up Tested the #10

Well I towed a 15K trailer for the first time since installing the #10 plate.
(Thanks Gunracer1)
It was amazing how much better it pulled. Did a 500 mile roundtrip to OKC. Only had one hill that dropped me down to 60mph.
If the EGTs weren't riding up to 1250 I could have held a much higher speed.
Most of the rest of the time we were moving between 75 and 80 with an EGT of 1100.
Before the plate I was being passed by everything on the road when I tried to pull the smallest of hills.
Not sure what was going on in my tranny though.
I'm waiting on a new trans line so I can connect the gauge.
I had blocked my waste gate but I may go back to some waste gate operations.
That squealing turbo is a little annoying and I know my wife won't like it at all.
Fuel mileage dropped in towing situations from 8mpg to 6.2mpg
Unloaded improved though.
The best I had ever gotten on the highway was 17.9. Today after dropping off the trailer about 1/2 way home I refueled and the checked it again and got 21.1

Did you do GunRacer's #100 or he just helped with your #10 install?

Very nice fuel mileage.

Gunracer1,
Just Idling I show no boost at all.
When checking my gauges after the install I had to really rev the engine to get the boost to come up at all while in park. On the road it ran up as high as 35 while towing up a pretty good grade but usually is running around 20 or so when just maintaining speed on a flat grade.

sounds like you need to upgrade your intake and exhaust. bigger is cooler, a bhaf and a 4" exhaust will cool you down a bit

I would like to do the exhaust real soon but I also will probably need to do some tranny mods too.
Too many wants and not enough greens!!!
I saw a trhead that was supposed to show how to increase the line pressure but all I could see was a pick pointing to the adjustment points. I never did see any actual instructions. Any idea where I might find that kind of info?

o yea leave your waste gate blocked, it will only get hotter if you enable it. and check your turbo for the siliencer ring.

right in the front of the turbo, pull the rubber boot off between the turbo and the air box, you should have a big snap ring holding a silver shaped piece of metal in the front.

Yea the silencer ring is there.
I do think the sqeal may be a leak in one of the intercooler boots.
When I lightly get on the throttle I can hear the turbo spool up and then spool down.
(Sounds just like what you would hear when driving along side a Big Rig)
But the squealing sound is more like the sound of air leaking from an airhose on a compressor and it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side of the truck.
Unfortunately I can't make it do it while in park. The boost never goes up enough.
I guess I'll have to pull each boot and inspect them for holes or cracks, unless someone has a better idea????

Well in the DSM world we take a rubber coupler and put it on the turbo then insert a piece of PVC with endcap glued on which has an air fitting in it and pressurize the system to about 20psi using an air compressor. Then you can go around and feel / hear the leaks. It seems like there is a common leak on an elbow on the driver's side it keeps rubbing up against a piece of sheet metal until it eats a hole through.
