Terrible Clutch Screech...Normal?

I just put a DD HMR/McLEOD clutch from Scheid diesel, its pretty well just a pulling clutch. I have it very well broken in, but im experiency a bad screech out of it. I knew that DD clutches "chirped" as you shift, as mine does, but i've never heard one sound like mine does at take off. It is worse in second as compared to first gear. When i let the clutch out to get going it has a very loud screeching noise until the clutch is fully engaged. I called Scheid and they said its because it had an iron disk and its normal, but it just worries me...any thoughts or ideas? Any of you run this clutch?

I have the same clutch have about 40 hooks on it and 20,000 miles. Mine always screeches and your right starting out in second is worse so I always start out in first unless i am at the drag racing track. Curt

I've got a Southbend, and it does that occasionally. More often when it was new. I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Haisley's use sintered iron disc in their street puller. A buddy of mine has this clutch and it does the same thing. It is just the nature of the beast.
