Tell me about the TST PM3 COMP.
Ill start by telling you I know it is a 120hp fueling box that taps the hot wire and has a 9 level adjustable setting. Its supposed to be strong on the bottom end with shutter on the top end from extreme fueling.
Here is what I need to know.
What kind of 1/8 or 1/4 mile times can I expect out of a stock SO 4X2 truck?
What kind of rwhp and tq gains can I expect?
Will my vp 44 last with a holley blue providing adequate fp?
Thanks in advance guys. Im new to diesels and am willing to listen rather than learn the hard way like I did in the LS1 Firebird. I am going for a Smarty later so no need to suggest it now.

You've got good information so far, SO5.9.
I would say with stock injectors and turbo you should be around 350 hp. I would say with good traction you'll 1/4 in the 17's..
The vp44 should last with good FP, but the electronic side of the vp44 is up in the air with regards to failing.

if youre gonna get a tst competition box, I would get an actual fuel system to run with it instead of the holley blue. the stock lift pumps are junk so get something that does away with it. the comp adds 160hp that I know of. It will only add that on a auto or 5spd. truck also. A 6spd ho will not get that much of a power gain.

SO5.9:
The members are giving you some good advice.
To add to what already has been said, I had a TST PM 3 (Competition) on a 2002 Dodge CTD 24 valve, QC, SB, Auto but it was a 4X4. So you have some "comparison" numbers and times, here is how my 2002 was set-up:
TST PM 3 (Competition) "stacked" with an Edge EZ
125 H.P. DD "Super Mental" Injectors
Piers HX-40/16 Turbo
Holley Red "Pusher" Pump with -8 line from fuel tank to VP-44
ATS Stage V Transmission
ATS Commander Lock-Up TC Controller
BD R.A.D. Device
With this set-up my truck laid down 486 H.P./989 TQ. and ran a best of 12.90@ 105 MPH in the quarter mile. The eighth mile times with this set-up ran from 8.0 to 8.2.
You are right about the TST PM 3 (Comp.) being "strong on the bottom end
with the shudder on the top end from the extreme fueling!" I did not run my TST PM 3 (Comp) above level "7" because of that shudder you mention.
Also to answer your question, "Yes, I think your VP-44 would be fine if you ran a Holley Blue." I ran the Holley Red WITH my stock lift pump and I would see 16-18lbs at idle and never less than 10-12 @ WOT.
Now,.....with all that being said, I did put five (5) lift pumps on my 2002 and also two (2) VP-44 Fuel Pumps during the 94,000 miles I owned the truck.
Hope this helps you some.

HA! thats a load of garbage! i ran a tst pm3 comp with mach 6's and a smarty on the stock lines with a holly blue and never pulled it down past 15. So saying the blue isnt good enough is lies....

hp and tq gains ~ 150ish and 300~350ish
yes, the blue will provide plenty fp
The tst pm3 comp will stack very nicely with a smarty.

well ive seen time after time that the lift pumps go out on a 2nd gen. im trying to save the guy some problems by just doing it right the 1st time. you have your thoughts I have mine. I know the pusher pumps help, but there is less to go out on a fuel system that doesnt depend on the lift pump also. this guy above has had 5 lift pumps and I know of many stock trucks that have had mutiple ones also. looks cheaper to me to get a system not a pusher

Gosh, take it easy buddy! I don't want to "speak for DTR Member jwb600" but he may just think a system like the FASS is a better way to go.
I agree that for the money the Holley Pumps (Red or Blue) are a good way to go. Heck, mine was on the 2002 for well over two (2) years with no problems at all. And he is right that "stock lift pumps are junk!"

how is a 600 dollar fass cheaper than a 90 dollar blue? i can buy 6 (yes, six) blues for the price of one fass. and chances are, you wont go through 6 blues so im going to stick with my cheaper, adiquate way of supplying fuel to my pump
