Without a billet shaft, the only lockup shift I'd even consider is 3-4.

I'm not playing until I get a billet shaft, so I don't have the lockup switch.

My trans would shift hard enough at WOT to break the tires loose on the 1-2, if they weren't already spinning..

I use mine for towing, works great for keeping the TC locked and the trans running cool. If I do happen to do a locked shift, I shift with the skinny pedal.

a friend of mine had a 98 with a 42REH trans and the switch kept the secondary clutch engaged in the converter and smoked the converter in about 2 weeks. however thats what you get for buying a cheap converter, you get what you pay for. stick to the brand name and you should be alright.

I don't want anything that "slams" my expensive tranny into gear...with or without billet!

What's it gain you....2/10ths in a 1/4 mile?

There are a few times when I'm towing on steep roads where the truck is only in second gear. I would like the ability to lock it in rather than the trans just slipping. My question is can you just put your shifter in 2nd and hit the switch, or will it only work if the truck is in drive? When you hit the switch is it an instant lock? I don't want to be broke on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks,
Bernie

It will not lockup with the gear selector in 2, only Drive. My father and I both use one while towing, it is awsome. I never have to worry about the upshift downshift thing, lock her up and RUN up any hill I find. Just watch the Black cloud following you! You need to remember to unlock it before you try to stop though . Yea I forgot I have let it shift from D to OD locked up, but it hits hard. I use it on the beach in 4LOW-works awsome too. Tranny temps stay nice and low.

There is NOTHING wrong with a mystery switch as long as you dont abuse it. And no, unfortunatley it wont lock in 2nd, only in the drive position.

Well I have a friend with a fully built DTT and it IS faster with the switched locked from a stop. I use mine alot and it does make a big difference but as Justin said it isnt the safest on your tranny.

To fix the input shaft problem I put in a bullet steel input shaft and output shaft. By tranny is the best investment that I made. What good is 600+ hp when you cant put it to the ground. If you guys are having problems with your tranny which you will, you need to get a Hawk Torqueflite tranny. Everything else is crap.

So set me straight here. If you have the lockup switch on and you are in "D" on the selector but the trans is in second it locks where, second or "D" Just to keep the confusion straight!!!!
