Tapping the VP44??

I was wondering if I could tap the wires going into the pump in the main harness. I checked ohm readings and it seems #7 pin is hooked directly to the wire that is normally tapped. Will this get around warranty problems or does it throw a code in the pump module or in the pcm. One rebuilder told me they check for codes in the pump module. I am waiting for another rebuilt VP44 and would love to tap the wire to make sure it is going to hold up, I just don't want to void the warranty. Took the cover off the core and there is no way to get to the wire or the circuit board that I can see. Everything is covered with a off colored silicone or there is plastic over it. It's either tap it now or take my chances after the warranty.

I think you are wrong about pin 7 being the same as the tap wire. Pin 7 is labeled as +12 volt supply in my Cummins manual.

Just get a pump cover from Blue Chip or BD and forget about it.

I have also read that the re builders are trained to look for the indentation that the covers make on the circuit board. They got it all figured out, with as much money they have spent fixin these things.

I can't find my didital voltmeter, but by the looks of my analog one the ohms are the same unless I have the wrong wire. All the other pins show a diffrent ohm reading. If you read the instructions for the stealth plate it says to have the key on and as you screw the tap screw in to the circuit board watch for 12 volts. By the looks of the insides on my pump module the tap screw would have to pierce through plastic wich would be a dead give away to any tech at the warranty dept.
