This is right, but if it was tapped before, you should be fine.

I think you have that backwards. Not tapping the wire only gives you timing like in EZ mode. Tapping the Injection pump gives you fueling with timing.

I am just afraid I will say that and then he will tap it and the pump will die!

Chances are you are right

The pump may die, but that is the chance everyone took who has already tapped the pump wire. He better be prepared to drop a new VP in there if it does die.

If you don't tap you should have just got the EZ. I have done several and had no probs. I also have had friends that had to replace pumps that had no mods on the truck at all. You role the dice when you by a 24 valve. I say tap it. A FP guage is just for looks if you suck it down to 0psi all the time and do nothing about it. If you want to be safe put a P-pump on it and make twice the power with no probs.

So those are like a 120 hp injector you just put in and you've got the comp installed? That is a huge gain in power right there. If you're using the hx35 then tapping the wire will make things get hot quicker. How are your egts with the sticks? If you don't know what you're pulling your fp down to, you'd be best off doing the fuel system first =P

How many miles on that vp44?

I have 164,000 miles on the vp and all that has been down to the fuel system is a relocated lift pump. I have fuel pressure gauge(sorry not in sig) and at idol it runs 10-12 for pressure.

I figured that you guys had to be about as brave as Ford drivers to ever leave the house in a 24 valve. Meaning you must not be afraid of being stuck on the side of the road at any moment. Why did you buy it if you are scared to use it, the EZ is a lot cheaper.

im not scared to tap it just anit got the money to replace it right now. i had an EZ on my truck before i put the drag comp on it and the comp without it being tapped is better than the EZ. with the comp you get better response and it seems to have more power too. and when you buy used chips the price anit that much of a differance

if funds are an issue do a holley blue first then go with a reputable rebuilder that gives you a year warranty. blue chip even gives you the warranty with the pump tapped! i found it hard to believe but mines been tapped for about 8 months now and no problems.

I know how you feel. Just have to give you 24 valve guys a hard time. You have a ticking time bomb taped or not I have found no significant difference. Sorry.
