Here is a pic of the diag. to make the Tail Lights Blink. It works with the lights both on and off.
Thanks
Chuck

Re:Tail Light Blinkers

Would this really be advantageous? I'd think people would mistake it for turn signals (most don't pay attention to whether it is one or both sides), or hazard lights. What happens when you are actually braking and have your turn signal on? Normally the tail light with the signal blinks and the other one stays on. If I used this wouldn't my lights just blink like hazards? That seems like it would be more dangerous, in some situations.
Now if the brake light blinking were set up in such a way as to strobe and then stay one for a few seconds, then strobe again. That is a very unique pattern and would surely get peoples' attention. It might require LED bulbs though.

Could this be only for the third brake light? I could see where that might help.

Chris

Chris,
I set this up for when I pull my trailer. It will blink the trailer lights, just like the 18 wheelers when they pass.
Chuck

OK, maybe I'm just out of it. I haven't seen that sort of thing here in Virginia. Maybe it's a Mid-West thing?

Chris

I see it all the time when you flash one an "all clear" to make a lane change in front of you. I do it too even tho I'm just a lil hauler (must be the stacks)

Same here, learned it years ago when doing some trips back and forth to Detroit to drop off press cars. It's just a courtesy trucker's extend to each other and alot of them will give you the same courtesy if they see your pullin' a decent size trailer.

John

Re:Tail Light Blinkers

Sure, I've seen that many times, but that only concerns flipping the parking switch switch in the cab, which, on big trucks, is separate from the headlights. What Chucksram is talking about is blinking brake lights, and that's what I have not seen. As I said, I think it has potential, if it cannot be confused with signal or hazard lights.

Chris

Stamey,
The diag is for the tail lights, not the brake lights.
Chuck

This seems a bit safer than turning off the headlights to flash the tails, which is how I'd have to do it now... Thanks
