Suspension Upgrade

Ok. So in the past couple of hours and beers I've decided to redo my front end and rear end this summer instead of my transmission. I figure that I might want to make everything else hold the power that the engine can throw at it. I want ladder bars for the rears, some sort of new track bar up front, and crossover steering. I'm going with the 03 rear u-bolt conversion and 9/16" u-bolts to keep the leaf springs in place (broke the centering bolts again). After that I want some bolt on ladder bars to keep the rear end solid and secure. The track bar is coming this week or next but I don't quite know. I'm looking at the solidsteel.biz adjustable track bar right now and the DT track bar but I'm not sure on which one I want yet. I'm also looking at cross over steering. What are the pros and cons of doing cross over steering? I don't 4 wheel with my truck much but when I do I don't want to worry about my front end snapping or my rear axle divorcing me. I'll be getting the crossover steering from Thurenfab since they're the only one's I know of that offer one but I have no clue on the ladder bars. Where should I go for those? How hard are they to install? Thanks for all the help yall.

Ask Don about the soiled steel track bar conversion....

His track bar is cheaper than either the DT or the SS adjustable. I've been torture testing Don's bar on my truck and it's working great.

Scroll down to Justin Hohn's post on x-over steering, I answered your question.

Forget the ladder bars. Ditch the leaf springs. Go with a triangulated four link with coil over shocks.

Ok. I don't want to reengineer the rear end and I'm not looking for anything that nuts. I just want my rear axle stop twisting and for my rear end to be plenty strong for when I do 25 psi launches with 600hp or when I flex it in ways it was never designed to.

Ladder bars will work (I hope youdon't want to go wheeling with this because the ladder bars will limit your flex). Another option for the rear is a functional traction bar (PM me if you want this explained). As for the front end. I have a buddy that is coming out with a new long arm kit for a Dodge. It should be out in af ew weeks. this kit should make the truck handle better, and provide more flex out of the front end. The original Dodge design is great for a stock truck. Once you lift it, the control arms are at too bad of an angle, and they do not work like they did before.

As for now, I'm gonna stick with the skyjacker control arms. I will eventually do a long arm setup. I just want my truck to handle like a sports car and turn when I want it to and how I want it to.

AHHH 25psi launches wont hurt nothing....I did them all the time with my Excursion. My rear end even on the 1 ton never twisted up with the 40" trxus.

Well my rear end is twisting just accelerating gently from a stop light. I'd hate to see what it would do with a 25+ psi launch.
