If you run SW5 or greater you will get cruise surge without a load. I can run SW5 with a 7k load and it is just past the surge point in cruise. My 4.10 gears probably soften it a little however.

My fix was to install a piece of red tube from a WD40 can into the vacuum line going to the cruise control. Not sure if the 5-speeds are vacuum controlled or not on the 99's. It worked on my auto.

Ok the cruise is around the drivers side fender right? I have heard of the wd40 trick before, I believe mine is vacuum controlled.

is it a TCC surge, what are the symptoms, because it might have to do with your alt. ground wire?

Nah it just does it when the comp box is on with the cruise set.

Mine had a bad surge. That's why I sold the Smarty. It seems to affect the built auto guys that run fast spooling chargers and big sticks with higher gear ratios.

Mine surged so bad with the Smarty alone on level 3 or higher, the cruise was useless. The throttle was just too touchy.

Put the thing in my dad's stock truck, he doesn't notice a thing.

So, it depends on the setup. You have to understand what is adding fuel and when to get a clear picture of a "fix". I have been asking for help with it for almost a year and gave up.
