SuperChip Problem
First off, I'm brand new here, so I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed/fixed here or if I'm in the wrong spot and for my relative ignorance. I have an '02 4X4 short box with a 6 spd. With the SuperChip installed at any setting, and especially on hot days, and only after cruising at freeway speeds for more than 50 miles, the truck suddenly loses power and stepping on the throttle does nothing for about 10 full seconds when she'll suddenly roar off with a cloud of smoke. Does not do this on stock setting, so I ruled out a problem with the basic engine? Contacted SuperChip and was informed that these Cummins are notorious for weak lift pumps after about 50K miles (I was at 52K miles). So, off to the dealer. New lift pump--no charge. Still have the problem. Re-contact SuperChips, sent them the unit, they re-programed it, sent it back, and yep, still having the same problem. Fuel pressure guage has me at 13 p.s.i. at 70 mph, so I don't think it's another bad lift pump. I humbly bow to your gentleman's expertise and appreciate any advice and apologize for the post's length. Thanks much.

You could go over to User CP and fill in you signature so everyone can help you out better...
I would start with checking for codes (Key on, off, on, off, on trick) You might get the dreaded P0216 error code!
Then you say you got 13 PSI at 70 MPH... Well It would be nice to see what PSI you got a idle and WOT (Wide open throttle - HI RPM's) This is where the stock LP pumps can't hold up good at all. I can draw mine down to 6-7 PSI at WOT!!! Getting thin in my book... Also if you add a box to it... Geez it can really fall quick! Double check this...

With the SuperChip tuner installed plug it back in, set it to diagnostic mode and see what comes up for codes, or could it be with the tuner installed its actually putting a strain on a weak injector pump? Im still learning myself so good luck and keep us posted.

I like my Superchips tuner. I don't think there's much difference in mpg though. There sure is more power though. I didn't notice a huge difference in performance between the 3 settings. Difference between stock and lowest setting is huge.
