Superchips Tuner

I was thinking of buying one of these units on Ebay and I wondering if anyone has one and what they thought of it?

I've go what you see in my sig, from what I hear it is similar to the Superchips. I am satisfied, it made a good improvement over stock, I have mine set on the max power +66 hp +174 Tq. That is with the HO, since you dont have the HO it would be less according to the dyno charts they have on their website, I would look at some dyno charts see which you like better.

Plus I can change my tire size from 22.5" to 44"
And check trouble codes, and clear trouble codes

i had one and was not impressed. took it back three days later and got the edge comp. I did like the onboard diagnostic, and speedo recalibration. The power gains even on high just didnt seem very noticeable. Plus it takes a while to load each power level. You gotta go thru the entire thing everytime you want to change anything. Now I just push a lil button and watch the smoke from the stacks in the rearview!

for the money go with the comp. the boost fooler makes a big improvement. i put the boost elbow on before i had the comp and it make the truck feel slower. i had one member on here pm me about stacking the tuner with an ez and he said he loved it. i'm running my comp in ez now but haven't stacked it. i'm a little leary, some guys tell me not to. there's also a special way to stack it if you're going to but i don't remember how.

oscgalis,

It's a good mild HP mod, most folks get bitten by the mod bug after they get something like this though and then sell it and move up in HP. When we have customers like this that we think mught want more later on we always suggest the Edge Comp box, if you hook it up and leave the pump wire disconnected it's basically like adding an Edge EZ box, 60-70 HP or so. Then when you have decided that you want more all you have to do is connect the pump wire, viola 120 HP at you finger tips to control with 5 positions etc. Saves you money and makes you smile! Works great with something like 275RV injectors too when you want the next level of HP.

I've got one. It works fine, The truck has more power than stock for sure. Have not thrown any codes with it. I towed a boat with a quad in the bed of the truck for about 1,700 miles on the highest setting with no problems. Recalibration of the speedo was real nice.

Thanks for the input. I was looking for something to give me a little power because I tow many times for long distances and a lot of the times very heavy loads. For example, from Portland OR to Los Angeles, CA with 20,000 on the trailer. But at the same time I don't want to blow my engine. I rather lose speed and slow down then damage my engine. So I don't plan on setting a very high power output. Just something safe.

Thumbs up

I'm not knocking it.I just don't like the shift points for the trans, they load up the converter to much so if you have'nt done any trans work you'll find out quick if you'll need some...

I am just speaking of past experiances w/ ford, not dodge...

But my guess is its probibly the same...

I think for a safe bet, but a little more money go w/ the MAD ECM...

Can I use the same scanner on both my trucks? Or does it set itself to only work on 1 truck?

Only works on one truck.

It copies the "new" program to the ECM, and transfers the stock program back to the tuner.

You can't put it on another truck until you get the "new" program back into the tuner by returning the other truck back to stock.
