superchips and aftermarket tranny
I have a suncoast complete tranny and was wondering If it is smart to change my shift points with my superchips tuner.
The overdrive shift it too late at wot I hit redline before it shifts, and the 2 1 downshift blows. I have adjusted the tv cable, but it doesn't seem to help.

I have the Superchips tuner and it doesn't have the option to change the tranny shift points. I called them and they said I would have to get a shift kit to do that. ???
What does Suncoast have to say? I am planning on doing a TC , VB and updated seals at least. Might do the whole trany if I can get the money right. ;D

The Shift points are transmission related
Can't tuner it up.

Superchips has changed their website they had a generic description of their tuners and it did say you could tune the tranny but I see it is gone now. They still say it for the ford. http://www.superchips.com/html/produ...sel_trucks.htm
And if I’m not mistaken it says this on the box it comes in with a note in fine print that says *Not all features are available on all applications :

The way I understood it it was
"change for different tire sizes making your speedometer correct and fixing your shift points".
Not actually doing anything to the tranny, just the tire size.
Not sure how it accomplishes this, as my Truespeed corrects the speedometer, but didn't do didly for the shift points.
I'm under the assumption that the transmission has it's own computer, the ECM/PCM doesn't do anything for it.

Re:superchips and aftermarket tranny
Now that I'm home I got the box it came in and on the back it says:
Gain up to 80hp and up to 185fy lbs tourque.
Raise top speed limiter*,Increase Rev Limiter*
Adjust auto Transmission Shift Points Characteristics*
Calibrate for changes in tire size and gear ratio.*
More hauling and pulling power.
Then in small letters
*Not available on all applications.
I've called them about the gear change and tranny shift points and they said that it won't work for the dodge diesels , but it will calibrate for tire size.
I bought mine for its mild hp increase 40 to 70 hp and 75 to 140 ft/lb torque. Don't want too much power until I get the tranny work done . It's also a code reader with the ability to reset the codes.
Note: They did say that the hp increase was on a stock motor with no other up grades.
