Super B or D Tech 64 for turbo choice
I am looking for opinions on which of these turbos to buy for my truck. They both pretty much cost the same and both are good turbos.
I'll never tow more than 10k with it - mostly just a trailer with a some sort of vehicle on it or a travel trailer that maxes out at 7k. Living in Montana, I do have some pretty decent grades to pull along with elevations from 3K where I live to 8K+.
Thanks.

While they both flow at similar rates they are quite different turbo's.
The D-Tech will light better at lower rpms and higher elevations than the Super B Special.
The D-Tech is a 64/65/12, which is a size known to surge, not just D-Tech but other turbo's of that size too.
The Super B Special is a 64/71/14, won't surge but will be slower to light.
Looking at your sig I would look at a 62/65/12 for living and towing in Montana, better spool and good air, unless your always towing at 2800 rpms.
What do you have now for a turbo? What do you think you are making for rwhp?
Also I am not sure what you found for pricing, but the Super B Special appears to be roughly $400 more than a D-Tech.

Whoops, for some reason I was thinking you said super B special..
The Super B is a much better turbo for your application, and thats not a bad price.
From what I have found the H1C that appeared in 94 was a WH1C, and nearly identical in size and flow to a HX35 of 94, which is roughly 52 lb/min or 750 CFM.
The Super B is about 850 CFM, so a decent increase in air, but nothing crazy. It will cool better, spool better than your stock turbo, but don't expect 300* drops.
I would go with the Super B if those are the 2 your looking at.
The Super B is a 59/65/14, it will spool nicely and still provide good cool air up top, due to the better exhaust side than your H1C.
