Re:Subwoofers

the back seat and box and everything custom...um...about $3000. but i could get in done without the fiberglass box and it would be around 1500 or less.

I went with two JL 8" subs. I built the boxes myself to fit under the back seat and fire forward. I'm running a Zapco 360 amp to run my subs and JL componet set. The Eclipse head unit with 8v pre-outs helps out nicely too.

DUM DUM DUM DUM box dimension!

OK I don't know how to post them really, I can draw it out in cad but I don't know how to convert to a JPG to upload it so I can try to just post the dimensions.

OK its a Wedge style box. So the Front if the widest part and the rear tapers to fit under the seat. This box Accommodates (2) JL12W3's but not V2's they are taller and this is the max that will fit under the rear seats with no mods.

The front is 10 3/4" high and the rear is 6" high. Now you have to also add a block at the front or extend the bottom edge of the box (this is how I did it) so the OA front is 12" high. Now the rear needs to be raised as well to allow the subs room to breathe as well. So the OA for the back of the box has to be 7 1/2". The width from outside to outside is 51".

I can't describe the under dimensions which is where the subs sit this is just the dimensions of the box. If anyone know's how to convert a dxf file to jpg then I can proceed to draw it out in cad and send it to them.

Take a look in my album. I have some pics of my sub boxes, they were built for 8" JL, but you might get some ideas to build you own sub boxes. Good luck. Also, don't worry too much about getting the exact air space for your subs as you can add polyfil. Here is a link to figure your air space.

I plan on running 2 Image Dynamics IDMAX v.3 12s powered by an MTX 1501D pushing about 2000wrms. For the boxes I havent decided yet, since I dont use the room underneath my seats, I was going to put a sub underneath each the driver and passenger seats, then I am not taking up any space that I was using. And I dont lose any room behind the seats where I have it packed full of stuff anyways.
They will be sealed enclosures, and probably covered in vinyl, I might glass them, but I am not sure yet. I will get pictures up when its all done though, it would be a nice alternative for us reg. cab guys who need to salvage all the space we can.

i have 2 infinity kappa 10's in a downfire box under my back seat. Great fit and people can still sit in the back and have room for there feet. I have a cheapo pioneer 50x4 head going to a sony xplode or whatever it is called 780 amp. sounds pretty good.

A word of caution to you all. I use to be BIG into systems. At one time I was trying to get Rockford Fosgate to sponser me. In my little saturn I had all RF. CD player with 18 volt pre outs and changer. 5.25 and tweets in custum kick panels with a 50.2 power amp. 8" subs built into the front doors with a 50.2 power amp, and 4 12" DVC in the trunck powered by 2 250.1 power amps hooked in parellel. Now keep in mind this was the old days when a 50.2 amp put out about 250 watts and the 250.1 put out 500+ watts. This system would put out 149.9 db (not bad for about 8 grand). Back to my work of caution, I now have a constant ringing in my ears. There is an actuall diagnosis for this but I cant remember what its called (I'be been to the doctor). Be carefull and listen to your music wisely. Dont listen to it at full volume all the time or for that matter ever. I have a few friends that also have this and it SUCKS.
