Stupid NV5600 gotta come out again
well looks like ill be able to send my clutch back to peter solve whatever is wrong with it because i need to pull the tranny for a rebuild anyway. the guy who rebuilt it the first time just replaced the broken gears, not all the bearings and its got a serious issue now. sounds like all the bearings are gonna need to be replaced but hopefully not the shafts.
put the truck on jackstands and ran it thru the gears and the noise coming from the tranny under neath is ridiculously loud when you get under there to hear it. sounds like the entire shaft is flopping around in the tranny...amazingly its still drivable, but its coming off the road again.

$2,300 oh lordy im gonna be working 24 hour days for about a month in order to get enough extra cash to pay for this rebuild...it cost me $800 last time for the 6th gear set, reverse gearset, and labor.
mine knocks at idle, not fast or too loud but noticable, and then when you are driving it makes some funny clunks when shifting, and hitting bumps. not to mention the clutch issue im having with my SBC DD

quad has no more 5600's, as a matter of fact nobody has one unless they got an old core and rebuilt it.
of course i could always solve this problem by finding an 01-02 6speed fr sale on a lot around here, and asking for an overnight test drive so i can have my mechanic look the truck over...but im not quite that much of a criminal.
but in all seriousness, this is gonna suck...and im seriously contemplating stripping the good parts off the truck and trading it in on a 3rd genner. i need to buy a stock turbo, exhaust system, and clutch tho.

are still in production im good to go, man, BUT i will say thati hate how these guys are sufferin due to discontinued trannys... in a sence, its the same feelin i had when i heard that same dreaded word on my dang driveshaft.. I dont see a need to discontinue when so many of these trucks are used as heavy haulers, and serve as a backbone for many people (hotshotters per say)

Sure glad I entrusted my NV5600 rework to a fella I've known all my life........me!
Broken bellhousing, 1.375 input shaft upgrade, then the emergency conversion to 2wd when the 2wd NV4500 cratered.
Well, not cratered - the previous 'rebuild' got all new bearings\synchros, but the output shaft inner bearing race was spinning on the shaft, and the outer bearing race was spinning in the case, so I put that one on a back burner.
Which necessitated the 4wd NV5600 conversion to 2wd
Wondered why all the NV4500 needle bearing races were packed with wheel-bearing grease, and the bottom of the case had globs of grease everywhere.
Certainly pays to know your rebuilder.
